Post by: Mafioso on March 24, 2024, 04:20:51 AM

Karadeniz Holding

Is a Turkish energy company which owns and operates land based power plants and powerships, through its subsidiary Karpowership. It is based in Istanbul, Turkey.

The company is operational in several industries, including energy, finance, ship building, and real estate.

Karpowership

Karpowership is a Turkish builder, operator, and owner of a fleet of powerships. Since 2010, 36 powerships have been completed with their total installed capacity exceeding 6,000 MW and further capacity under construction (or scheduled).

Karpowership executes all its activities in-house, including design, construction, site preparation, commissioning, fuel supply and electricity delivery.

Powership:

Powerships are barge- or ship-mounted floating power plants, and they can operate on heavy fuel oil (HFO), diesel fuel, and/or natural gas. Karpowership's powerships are available under electricity-generation services contracts, power-rental contracts, energy-conversion works contracts or power-purchase agreements.

In 2007, Karpowership developed a project named "Power of Friendship", which supplies electricity to shortage-stricken countries in the Middle East, Africa and Asia

Operations:

Karpowership has offices and is operational in Africa, Americas, Asia, Europe and the Middle East. Karpowership's International Projects operate out of Istanbul, from where they can supply floating power plants to overseas locations.

The vessel was built in 1983 (according to some sources in 1984) as a bulk carrier with deck-mounted cranes by the Japanese shipyard Mitsui Co in Ichihara, Chiba with yard number 1264 and was named SONO.

The 188.14 m (617 ft 3 in) long vessel has a beam of 31.00 m (101 ft 8 in) and a draft of 5.85 m (19 ft 2 in).

For 41,525 DWT , it has a cargo capacity of 24,729 GT .

The vessel is propelled by a single screw, which is powered by a 13,100 HP MAN B&W diesel engine.

Misr Shipping Co. in Egypt bought and renamed her SAQQARA.

Later, it was bought by Bright Star Marine in Malta and renamed SEAPACE.

The Greek company Thenamaris Ships Man. Operated the cargo ship under the Maltese flag.

Her next owner became another Greek shipping company, Vulcanus Technical Maritime Enterprises SA, which renamed her MELPOMENI.

The freighter Melpomeni was eventually acquired in 2009 by Karpowership , a subsidiary of Karadeniz Holding, for the purpose of converting her into a floating power plant sailing under the Liberian flag.

She was renamed Karadeniz Powership Doğan Bey after Nuri Doğan Karadeniz, the chief operating officer of the parent company.

Sedef shipyard in Tuzla, Istanbul, was commissioned in May 2009 with the task of converting the cargo ship into a Powership by installing the necessary motor generators , transformers and electrical switchboards on board.

On April 3, 2010, the floating power plant was ready to go on its first mission in Iraq. After a send-off ceremony held at Sedef Shipyard in the presence of Turkish and Iraqi energy ministers, it sailed to Basra and arrived there on May 1 .

Doğan Bey supplied electricity in Iraq for the next five years following a contract signed with the local Department of Energy.

In January 2018, Karpowership signed a contract with Sierra Leone's national utility, the Electricity Distribution and Supply Authority (EDSA) to supply 30 MW of power to Freetown for a period of 5 years. Doğan Bey is currently located in Sierra Leone .

In June 2018, Karpowership signed a contract with Sierra Leone’s national utility company, Electricity Distribution and Supply Authority (EDSA), Ministry of Energy (MOE), and Ministry of Finance (MOF) to deploy a Powership to supply 30 MW. In 2018, an addendum agreement was signed to increase the capacity to 50 MW; in 2020 a third addendum was signed to increase the capacity to 65 MW.

Karpowership is operational in the country since 2018 and has been supplying 80% of Sierra Leone’s total electricity needs.

KPS-3 DOGAN BEY (IMO 8117031)

KPS-3 is the abbreviation for the ship.

See some examples:

Not to say Karadeniz Powership Dogan Bey, but KPS-3... is it understood?

I accidentally made a mistake and put the gambia banner on the sierra leone banner,

No one noticed my mistake and I have corrected it.

I comment this because there are so many data that sometimes one gets confused.

But it is seen that nobody noticed the mistake here!

It is rare for this to happen if there are 200 eyes watching.

If you see errors please say so, and this is the beauty of the forum, talk, comment and share ideas if this forum was made for this purpose.

The KPS-50 KORAY BEY (IMO 9086203) ended its role in The Gambia in 2024 and is now in Turkey, as the Gambian government did not renew the contract.

The images one sees from Google Maps or Google Earth are from the year 2022.

Well, so far so easy, now comes the hard part.

Now comes SUDAN, there was only one ship generating electricity.

Now there are 2 ships and an electricity generating barge.

Another ship and a barge were added from PAKISTAN.

I have them all 3 and we will see how to publish them, ready.

A prayer, an Our Father and to publish, the 2 ships and the electric barge from Sudan.

Do you understand what I am publishing?

I think I made it pretty easy.

Excuse me, there are countries that have lawsuits with this company for not having paid, but I do not publish that.

That is for the lawyers and judges, I publish where the ships or the power generating barges worked.

I am not defending or publicizing this company, on the contrary I am publicizing how simple tugboats or tankers were used to build floating power plants.

This company went through several countries and I was astonished about Indonesia... I will publish this later.

Built as an electric barge by the Sedef shipyard in Tuzla (Istanbul) in 2013, it was renamed KPS-9 FATMAGUL SULTAN in honor of the sister of Karadeniz Holding's chairman.

The Orca-class vessels, with a maximum capacity of 235 MW, are 140 meters long and 42 meters wide and are designed with the latest technology.
Our Powerships consist of Dual-Fuel engines, on-board high-voltage substation, on-board fuel storage and on-board accommodations. With a depth of only 3 meters, they can easily enter the ports of the countries where they will generate power.

The Powership left Turkey on February 8, 2013 bound for Lebanon.

She arrived at her destination after a week's journey.

Following a ceremony held in Beirut in early April 2013 in the presence of Gebran Bassil , Lebanese Minister of Energy and Water, the Powership began supplying 188 MW of electricity to the grid in Lebanon, where demand for electric power grew more than expected from 2011 through increased consumption and the influx of refugees from the Syrian Civil War.

Over a three-year period, at least 15% of the country's electricity needs are generated by our fleet power.

The contract expired in September 2021, while Électricité du Liban owed Karpowership overdue payments in excess of $100 million. Powership has stopped its supplies on 1 October 2021.

In November 2021 it arrives at Karmarine Shipyard in Yalova, Turkey.
The KPS-9 FATMAGUL SULTAN undergoes major upgrades, with the addition of new power generators, from 9 to 12 generators.

It is renamed KPS-9 SUHEYLA SULTAN.

In January 2023 it was shipped to Cuba and arrived in Havana in February.
To reinforce the capacities of the National Electric System (SEN).
The Karadeniz Powership vessel has a generating capacity of 240 megawatts, while the others, distributed between the port of Mariel and Havana, together generate 500 MW.

In October 2018, Karpowership signed a contract with the Cuban Ministry of Energy to deploy 6 Powerships.

KPS-9 SUHEYLA SULTAN arrives in 2023, was installed in La Habana, Cuba and is powering the town and the port while the old power plant is being renovated.

The upgrade of the old plant is updated by Karadeniz Holding and will be inaguarated in 2 years.

I hate that people mark ships afloat in GOOGLE MAPS, if they move, or worse that they make them in 3D, they make a little square drawing and cover the original ship.

Hi,

Do you know anything about OCEAN KARADENIZ imo: 9243370, ex. Stril Myster. She was sold to Karadeniz in 2020/21 after she had a fire while laid up in Stavanger, I havent seen her on AIS since so maybe she has been broken up ?

Hi Geir
The OCEAN KARADENIZ imo: 9243370 that one I don't have in my list.
It was sold to Karadeniz in 2020/21, these people don't scrap ships, if they buy them it's to do something else.
Renamed 'Ocean Karadenis' and registered in Monrovia, with plans to be be rebuilt for the use as a floating power station. The new owners are Karpowershipyard Rauf Bey Co. (Karmarine Karadeniz Denizcilik ve Ticaret AS), Istanbul.

The Erin Sultan energy ship of Karpowership, one of the Turkish energy company Karadeniz Energy Group companies, was built in Italy in 1984.

The ship was converted into a power ship in 2014 at the Sedef Shipyard in Tuzla.

The power plant of the 23,990 gross tonnage, 157.78m long and 30m wide ship consists of 6 MAN 18V51/60 DF-dual fuel engine-generator sets.

There are 6 HRSG (Heat Recovery Steam Generators) combined with the exhaust stack of each engine to drive 2×10 MW steam turbine-generator sets and generate steam.

The total capacity of the ship is 110 MW.

In October 2018, Karpowership signed a contract with the Cuban Ministry of Energy to deploy 6 Powerships.

In 2023 many wondered why the KPS ERIN SULTAN is not in Havana.
Because the large power generating barge KPS-9 SUHEYLA SULTAN was already working there.

Here in dakar is the KARMOL LNGT POWERSHIP AFRICA (IMO: 9043677)

It is not a power generation ship.

The first LNG Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU), that is to be used by KARMOL as part of a power installation in Africa, arrived in Senegal as it prepares to deploy. After arriving in Africa at the end of May, it is being positioned at its mooring location and undergoing the commissioning process to join an existing powership in the port of Dakar.
Known as the Karmol LNGT Powership, the 105,000 gross ton tanker, that was built in 1994, recently completed trials after a conversion at the Sembcorp Marine in Singapore. The vessel is being operated a KARMOL, a joint venture between Karpowership and Japan’s Mitsui OSK Lines (MOL).
KARMOL sees the combination of FSRUs and Powerships as a ground-breaking solution to bring LNG utilized power generation to countries with no natural gas infrastructure or supply. The company believes that will provide a unique, cleaner solution to providing stable electric power to a broader range of developing countries seeking to expand their electric supply.

The FSRU will connect to a Powership, a floating power plant, owned by Karpowership, through gas pipelines. The Karadeniz Powership Aysegül Sultan, has a capacity of 235MW, and has been in operation since October 2019, supplying 15 percent of Senegal's electricity with 220MW of power to Senegal's grid. Previously the powership was fueled by traditional fossil fuels, which will now be replaced by the cleaner burning LNG.
The FSRU, which is 272 meters long, has a capacity of 125, 470 cubic meters of gas. The FSRU arrived in Senegal with an initial supply of LNG on board and the first refueling will be carried out by Shell in July.
The company plans to convert its fleet of Powerships to LNG to add a sustainable and affordable component to its operations. Currently, plans are underway to deploy the second LNG FSRU in Mozambique.

It was named MAERSK PUNCHER joined the Maersk Supply Service fleet in 1993.

In 2016 , Maersk Supply has sold two of its anchor handling tug supply vessels (AHTS) to Karadeniz of Turkey.

The sale price of Maersk Puncher (built in 1992) and Maersk Provider (built in 1991) has not been disclosed.

Earlier this month, Maersk Supply stated that it would reduce its offshore support vessel (OSV) fleet by up to 20 vessels over the next 18 months due to "unprecedented market conditions."

Jørn Madsen, CEO of Maersk Supply Service, told Splash last week, "The vast majority of the vessels we are divesting will be recycled or modified by their new owners to compete outside the OSV market."

Karadeniz has been very active in the buy-sell market this year, and has bought at least two vessels to convert them into floating power plants.

After the two sales, Maersk Supply Service's fleet now numbers 54 vessels.

The MAERSK PUNCHER was converted into a Powership with a generation capacity of 40 MW at Hat-San Shipyard in Altinova, Yalova.

In 2017 it was completed and launched under the name KPS-45 FARUK BEY.

In 2018 Karpowership signed a 5-year contract with the government of Gambia and the KPS-50 KORAY BEY and KPS-45 FARUK BEY vessel was dispatched.

In 2022 it is sent to Abidjan, Ivory Coast, as the electric barge KPS-9 SUHEYLA SULTAN (ex Fatmagül Sultan) is leaving for Cuba after finishing its work.

The power line ship is not visible, due to cloudiness or map errors.

Karpowership is proud to be part of the Brazilian energy sector and to contribute to the country's energy generation and efficiency.

In Brazil since 2022, the company's main project in the country is the implementation and operation of 4 floating thermal power plants and a floating gas storage and regasification unit (FSRU) (LNG).

The vessels are anchored in Sepetiba Bay, in the city of Itaguaí, Rio de Janeiro, and have a total installed capacity of 560 MW.

The project is 100% completed and began operating in September 2022, making it fully available to the Brazilian energy system. The power plants generate clean and reliable energy using natural gas. The energy generated passes through 41 transmission towers and reaches the homes of thousands of Brazilians.

The Powerships are highly efficient, fully integrated, combined-cycle facilities that can be deployed almost immediately and therefore do not require carbon-intensive land-based infrastructure. They can be "unplugged" and reinstalled elsewhere, with minimal environmental impact after decommissioning.

Karpowership is proud to be part of the Brazilian energy sector and to contribute to the country's energy generation and efficiency.

In Brazil since 2021, the company's main project in the country is the implementation and operation of 4 floating thermoelectric plants and a floating gas storage and regasification unit (FSRU) (LNG). The vessels are anchored in Sepetiba Bay, in the city of Itaguaí, Rio de Janeiro, and have a total installed capacity of 560MW.

The project was 100% implemented and began operating in September 2022, making it fully available to the Brazilian energy system. The Powerships generate clean and reliable energy using natural gas. The energy generated passes through 41 transmission towers and reaches the homes of thousands of Brazilians.

The vessel was renamed KPS ORHAN ALI KHAN and was an oil tanker between 2015 and 2016.

Between 2016 and 2017 she was laid up at the Sedef shipyard in Istanbul and converted to a propulsion vessel.

She was launched as KPS-14 OGUZ KHAN, but upon shipment to Indonesia was renamed KPS-14 ONUR SULTAN.

It is equipped with 24 gensets based on Wartsila internal combustion engines with a total power output of 481.4 MW, making it the most powerful in Karadeniz Holding's fleet and the most powerful floating power plant in the world.

The Onur Sultan's first assignment was to work on a five-year contract with Indonesian state-owned power company PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara.

In April 2017, the vessel set sail from Istanbul and soon began work in the Indonesian port of Belavan, north of the island of Sumatra.

At the beginning of 2023 the ship left Indonesia and sailed to Singapore.

It seems that the ship is anchored in Singapore.

OK (Osman Karadeniz) (IMO 8025331)

Built at Shipyard: Oshima Shipbuilding Company Ltd, Oshima, Japan.
Shipyard number: 10059
Launched in 1982 for Wijsmuller B.V., IJmuiden, Noord-Holland, Netherlands.

Named: SUPER SERVANT 3

In 1994 sold to Dockwise N.V. continued as SUPER SERVANT 3 but her flag was changed to Netherlands Antilles.

During October 2007 it was purchased by Anglo Eastern UK Ltd., Glasgow, Great Britain, continuing under the name SUPER SERVANT 3 and under the flag of Netherlands Antilles.

In 2010 the Anglo Eastern UK Ltd., Glasgow, Great Britain, the ship SUPER SERVANT 3, was reflagged to Curaçao.

In April 2017 the SUPER SERVANT 3 sold to Karmarine Karadeniz Denizcilik, Istanbul, Turkey.

For the Karpowership Co. Ltd. under the flag of Monrovia / Liberia.

The former heavy lift vessel "Super Servant 3" has been converted into a private yacht at the Turkish shipyard Karmarine.

Renamed: OK (Osman Karadeniz)

During three years at the shipyard, she has been converted into a partially submersible superyacht.

As a transport vessel, this feature proved very useful for both stern and side loading, and is also what attracted Bozca's attention.

To have a superyacht that can submerge almost 70% of its surface and yet maintain full area functionality the rest of the time is something no other explorer yacht can do.

Karmarine reinforced the large open aft deck so that, when it emerges above water level, it can carry up to 70 different water toys, including multiple tenders, buggies, amphibious vehicles, a seaplane and a 46-meter yacht.

It also has a convenient car ramp, so it is possible to drive land vehicles on board and take them to the next destination.

The large open-air garage can be used without submerging the aft deck, thanks to a 40-ton crane that allows most of the toys on board to be launched and picked up.

When the deck is not being used as a garage, the 20 guests on board can use it for leisure activities in an open space of 3,300 square meters.

KARMOL LNGT POWERSHIP AFRICA (IMO 9043677)

The vessel was built in 1994 as DWIPUTRA LNG at the Mitsubishi Heavy Industries shipyard in Kobe for Pacific LNG Tpt Ltd, Bahamas.

In the late 2010s, the tanker was purchased by KARMOL, a company owned equally by Japanese shipping company Mitsui OSK Lines and Turkey's Karadeniz.

The latter has created the world's first fleet of floating power plants, and in some cases it was advisable to supplement them with facilities that would allow natural gas to be used in regions without adequate infrastructure.

The Dwiputra was therefore converted into a floating LNG regasification and storage facility at Singapore's Sembcorp Marine shipyard.

It was renamed KARMOL LNGT POWERSHIP AFRICA.

The regasification unit on board the vessel is capable of supplying 0.4 to 8.5 million m3 per day, and the LNG is stored in tanks with a total volume of 125470 m3.

If required, the vessel can continue to be used as a conventional LNG carrier.

In June 2022, KARMOL LNGT Powership Africa started operations in Senegal at the Dakar LNG terminal.
