Liverpool2, Peel Ports flagship container terminal at Liverpool, is due to welcome 2 transatlantic services - TA2 from the 2M Alliance, Maersk and MSC, and Maesk's own Columbia Express on a 12 week temporary basis.
Although the services are presently slated to return to Felixstowe, Peel are planning to put in an impressive service and cost package - from their point of view, services departing Liverpool for transatlantic destinations are ideal targets, and North-western UK businesses have a big target market in North America.

I wonder how they will get the large volumes away from the terminal. Seaforth has a small railhead which Freightliner abandoned some while ago. Maersk and MSC are committed rail users at Felixstowe, but I suggest everything will be on road transport from Liverpool.

Good question, Derek. The volumes from these 2 service won't be too large, given the vessel sizes, so it might be a good test for their capacities.
