Title: Vogel Equipment Lose Tug Nalani
Post by: Robert McDonald on January 25, 2015, 07:04:31 AM
Tug sinks in deep water off Hawaii.

The tug Nalani, owned by Vogel Equipment of San Francisco, California, was in waters about 2,200 feet deep and was carrying an estimated 75,000 gallons of diesel fuel.

The towing vessel Tiger 7 and a National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration patrol boat heard the UMIB (Urgent Marine Information Broadcast) and arrived on scene to assist.

The crew of the NOAA vessel safely rescued nine crew members, and the Tiger 7 crew rescued two. No injuries were reported.
