hi,
   does anyone know why loch seaforth is sailing between Belfast and dublin

Engine trials, or more specifically running up hours on her engines for running in/trials purposes.

shipyard who built her in Germany closed- has been in Greenock for months -
still doing trials

The yard in Germany which built Loch Seaforth (Flensburger) is alive and well albeit under new ownership since October 2014.

Back to the original question, I understand that the pier at Stornoway will be ready to accommodate Loch Seaforth 'in the new year'. Once it is finished and after berthing trials, service will commence.
