Title: REQ: Devonport Docks
Post by: Darleydale on July 05, 2013, 04:14:39 PM
Hi All

Can anyone help me with the names of the following which I saw from the Plymouth boat trip around Devonport Docks yesterday afternoon (4th) please?

The RFA vessel that is in drydock at the moment. The 5 de-commissioned Subs that are altogether in one of the docks (name/number of dock unknown)and also the 2 commissioned Submarines that are berthed further down on the river(side). Also if there are names for the following as well please? Landing Craft 9732/9735/9736 & 9737.

Many thanks and Regards

Gordon

PS: The boat trip was well worth it!

Hi

I am not aware vessels used by 539 Assault Squadron Royal Marines (539 ASRM) or its feeder unit 10 Landing Craft Training Squadron as having official names but I might be wrong.

Cant help with the subs or RFA vessel - I'm sure a local will know.

Steve

Thanks Stephen and Barry

Thats put me in a bit of a quandry about the submarines. I presume there must have been more than 5 de-commissioned vessels in the dock?
Hopefully other details may appear in the forum.

Once again thanks and best wishes

Gordon

Hi All

After showing a friend a picture I took of the (RFA Vessel) in drydock it turns out to be HMS OCEAN, so thats cleared that one up and the 2 Subs moored together riverside that I saw are Trenchant and Turbulent. Well at least a few more for the book.

Regards

Gordon
