Maersk have announced the introduction of a new transatlantic service. The TA5 service will commence on 05.03.12 and will include: anzanillo, Charleston, Newark, Felixstowe, Bremerhaven, and Rotterdam.
First call at Felixstowe is due on 10.03.12 with the MOL Destiny. Other vessels to be utilised are: Hyundai Tianjin, APL Indonesia, APL Melbourne, and APL Shanghai.

What about Norfolk VA? I thought Maersk had plenty of transatlanic services.

This is a really dumb question ??? but if this is a Maersk service then why isn't at least one of the ships Maersk? I am familiar with shared service but I would think Maersk would have at least one of their ships involved, especially with so many calling at Norfolk, Va.?
Thanks for your understanding on this on.

Hi,
This isnt a Maersk or even a new Service, all they doing is purchasing slots on the APX service which is actually operated by APL, Hyundai & MOL.
Lines have always done this but are swapping slots on a much greater scale now due to the economic downturn and the difficulty they have in filling their ships.

Andrew

^^ all shipping lines generally refer to connections offered by slot-buying or slot-exchanging as 'their services'. Not misleading in my view: General practice among all lines.
