Trip reports / Re: Trinovante , 3 masted schooner , ipswich.
« on: April 30, 2015, 04:45:19 PM »
Got back on monday from a lovely time learning to sail this schooner. Crew of 6. 3 days sailing three miles off shore around the essex coast. Raising the sails using blocks , heaving the anchor up on a winch.

Weather was good , sea sate slight winds on average 9-11 knots.Got the chance to be at the helm and sail her into Harwich sunday evening.Got a little cold sunday afternoon and had to go below deck and wrap up in sleeping bag a duvet and hot water bottle. Forgot how fast you can get mild hyperthermia if your not wrapped up. Saw a thames barge coming into Harwich monday with ABP on the sail, think this was Associated British ports vessel.

Great to sail just using the wind. Recommend this to anyone who is interested in traditional sailing vessels.

Did wonder what happened to her. I was watching the track yesterday, Harwich lifeboat was with her then got replaced by Walton and Frinton lifeboat just after 4 in the afternoon.Force 8 going on force 9 gale too while she was drifting..wind blowing south westerly towards land.

Help and Advice / ship postion..confused.
« on: February 07, 2015, 04:02:36 PM »
I have noticed a ship on AIS , chembulk tortola. On marine traffic website she is 52.05357 longtitude by 1.543627 lat degrees info received 52 mins ago. Yet on here she is moored outside Rotterdam. How can the same vessel be in two places at once?

Have i missed something? ???
