Site related news, functions and modules / Most Online Ever: 1144
« on: September 11, 2016, 01:53:48 PM »

I have just noticed on FORUM: Users Online (statistics), the following:

Most Online Ever:  1144  ( September 08, 2016,  10:57:27 pm )

I wonder, HOW DID THAT HAPPEN ?

Because:
- Within the whole recent period, the Most Online number of members (Login) range abt. 90 - 115  members per day;
- Before this "1144 Top Record" which was now set on the day of September 08, 2016, the previous Top Record was set on the day of September 16, 2013 and was 356 Most Online Ever !!

Best regards to all members of Shipspotting.com,

Site standards that apply to all photos:
1. Size of image: The resolution must be between 768 x 768 pixels and 4000 x 4000 pixels, and the file size maximum is 4MB.

If you try to post a photo of 768 x 768 pixels >> IT DOESN'T WORK !!

You receive a message on the uploading screen, that says:
Photo resolution should be between (1024px x 768px) and (4000px x 4000px)

Can the minimum acceptable resolution 768 x 768 pixels, as per the latest/refreshed site standards, be made to work in good order !?

Kind regards /Jadran

Help and Advice / Not in focus
« on: September 08, 2015, 07:35:11 AM »

After 2,5 years of posting photos onto this site I still don't understand when the Admin states: Not in focus
This is my general query and refers only to some deletions happened to me 2-3 months ago.

- You focus the subject within the 'green frame' in your view-finder of the camera; I use Nikon cameras
- You click your shutter button half-way-down on your camera to confirm the focus; focus confirmation is clearly displayed in the view-finder of your camera; the re-confirmation of focus is positive
- Your camera is on a tripod and you make the final full-way-down click on your shutter button to shoot the photo;

I don't understand what means Not in focus in the case of the Admin, and perhaps in the general sense of meaning.
Could somebody, experienced photographer,  please clarify & explain to me the meaning of the phrase Not in focus, and actually what is the cause of the subject being not in focus ( if it is really not !? )

Help and Advice / Quadcopter (drone)
« on: August 23, 2015, 02:13:01 PM »

Hello to experts, and also to all the site members who know a bit about drones !

I am curious to learn:
When you buy a drone, and later intend to use it for flying and shooting photos, are there necessary to obtain any special licence, permits and/or any other official document(s) from the various authorities.

Moreover, are there existing any official restrictions for flying the drone i.e. any limitations and/or any "prohibition".

To simplify my query ... is flying a drone, for the purpose of photographing, the same as flying some toy-heli or is a drone entering into category of a flying object (like some light sport-plane, glider, paraglider and similar).

Thank you in advance.
