Help and Advice / Movement Related Websites
« on: January 22, 2015, 03:49:52 PM »
Good afternoon, Gentlemen.

Not entirely sure if I'm on the right part of the forum but I will start here anyway - if the mods want to move my post to another section or delete it altogether that's just fine.

My question is this. Both the Gibraltar Port Authority and the Port Authority of Algeciras used to run excellent web pages giving movement information - the usual data: arrivals, departures, ships at berth, etc etc etc.

In the past I have made extensive use of both these sites to obtain movement data, particularly on return from my various Med cruises. I was down in Gib the weekend before last and fell into the fatal trap of not logging any movement data because I could "always rely on getting it from the web pages". Sadly however, neither page now appears to be working (although both are still there). Another useful site ("Port Arrivals") also appears to have gone down the tubes.

Does anyone know of any particular reason for this - maritime security perhaps? Or am I just being paranoid, or hitting a particularly unlucky cyber patch?

Shipping News and information / Collision at Immingham

Does anyone have any info about a collision at Immingham involving Alexander Tvardovskiy, UKD Bluefin, and Wilson Hawk?  The MAIB have it listed as a current investigation and it appears to have occurred on 1 August 2012 but I can find nothing more on it anywhere on the web.

Does anyone have any detail at all on this very brief BBC news report posted this morning (Friday 9 December 2011)?  The names of the two vessels involved would be a great help.

Shipping News and information / Queen Mary 2

I've been hearing reports that QM2 may have suffered a fire in one of her gas turbines sometime in the evening of 5 October.  However, the source of this information is frequently unreliable.  Has anyone heard anything about this?
