The offshore support vessel Malaviya Twenty which has been subject of a legal tug of war between various parties seems set to be sold and all dues  including crews wages to be paid in full.
Interesting to see the captains loyalty even after receiving no wages but refusing to abandon the ship as apparently anyone boarding an abandoned vessel can claim ownership,is this true?

The Mumbai registered offshore supply vessel Malaviya twenty[ I.M.O. 9303481] which has been impounded in Gt.Yarmouth since June 2016 has been moved to the outer harbour for "security and safety" reasons. This means that the temporary crew manning the vessel can no longer visit the town centre or use the facilities offered by the port chaplain and seamens mission such as internet etc.http://www.greatyarmouthmercury.co.uk/news/new-great-yarmouth-home-for-malaviya-twenty-1-5436188

Must be stacking up on port charges as well and I have seen various suppliers delivering to the boat.I did get in to a short conversation with a crew member who was stretching his legs but he was ordered back to the vessel by an officer.

The offshore supply vessel MALAVIYA 20, [I.M.O.9303481] an Indian owned vessel arrived in Great Yarmouth on June 8th and was detained on July 4th by the International Transport Workers Federation [ITF]
union with the support of the Maritime and Coastguard Agency [MCA]
There were "five deficiencies with four ground for detention" found after a port state control
check which is the inspection of foreign ships in national ports.
The ships medical certificate had expired as well as a record of wages to its employees was missing.
It comes after another ship the MALAVIYA 7 was detained in Aberdeen in June, both vessels are owned by Mumbai based GOL Offshore Ltd.
Malaviya 7 was held over "missing"wages and a lack of wages paid record.
Both vessels "seafarers employment agreement"were also invalid.
In Aberdeen it was thought  that past and present crew members were owed around

Help and Advice / Re: RITSKE - a cement carrier?
« on: January 06, 2016, 08:50:17 PM »
Yes Jens RITSKE is indeed a cement carrier but the tanks are in the old hold so it still looks like a general cargo vessel. She often calls at Great Yarmouth delivering the powders and minerals [loosely described as cement] to companies engaged in the North Sea drilling industry.
Hope this helps  Regards Andy [TX2]

Having noticed that the Seajacks Leviathan and Seajacks Kraken have been tied up in Gt.Yarmouth for some months now and last week joined by Seajacks Hydra I wonder if anyone can tell me roughly what fees a port would charge for vessels of 5000+ tons.I realise that the costs would vary between different ports but am curious to know what a shipowner would have to pay.

I noticed that the dive support vessel RED7 REEL which has been tied up in Gt.Yarmouth for a couple of months has been renamed DPV SUPPORTER although Marine Traffic is still using the old name. Can anyone tell me who the new owners are and if there are any plans for the other vessels from the RED7 fleet namely RED7 ALLIANCE & RED7 TONJER which have been tied up in Gt.Yarmouth since RED7 Marine became insolvent.

Help and Advice / Re: Great Yarmouth Outer Harbour
« on: August 11, 2015, 07:00:26 PM »
Sorry Mike but its not possible to get a clear view of any vessels in the outer harbour. If you travel along the dock road and turn up by the power station you will come to the sea front and you will be able to see some partial views of ships moored there but clear views are restricted by a chain link fence and piles of aggregates.I dont know how often you visit Gt.Yarmouth but the whole port [both inner and outer harbours]have been put up for sale by International Port Holdings who trade as Eastport and the locals are campaigning for any new owner to re-open the road past the docks and allow a viewing area to be allowed again for port watchers.
