Title: OPDR moves UK port of call from Felixstowe to Tilbury

This news should cheer up our valiant band of contributors who regularly post photos of Tilbury-bound vessels and have been depressed by recent service transfers to London Gateway and Thamesport: http://www.worldcargonews.com/htm/w20131121.072661.htm

There's now a Shipping TV video online detailing this UK port of call transfer from Felixstowe to Tilbury's London Container Terminal - on the video page, and on Shipping TV, of course.

There is also a big capital expenditure programme underway at Tilbury which isn't attracting much media attention but involves a significant beefing-up of the port's facilities.

Here is an article on a crane delivered last month, supposedly the biggest harbour mobile in the UK: http://www.vertikal.net/en/news/story/18483/

The new crane with its huge yellow jib now features frequently on photos taken of ships in Gravesend Reach that are posted on this site.
