Apparently the launch date of this new line is approaching.
On www.maersk.com - careers - Europe - Maersk Line, the company
has for some time been advertising for staff, either by the ghost name
of NEWCO, or by SEAGO LINE.
It appears that the concept will repeat the success of MCC Transport (Singapore)
which now operates approx. 50 intra-Asia feeder vessels, and which has just
established itself as a shipowner as well.
With a declared long-term market share of 15% for NEWCO/SEAGO, the existing feeder
operators will apparently meet a new, tough competitor.

Not yet - to my knowledge - any detailed and comprehensive information by Maersk Line
about this new venture.
However, from the scattered info available, the shape of the company is impressing: in
the adds for staff it is stated that "the expectation is (to have) 500 employees across
Europe and the GSC's".
Elsewhere it is quoted that the CEO has stated to Tradewinds that the company expects
to "operate" 60 vessels in the third quarter of 2011 (2011!!).
Some large scale box hunting around the corner ;D

The homepage of SeaGo Line is now active on www.seagoline.com
However, so far only one page with the cluster managers in
15 countries - apart from HQ Copenhagen - are mentioned.

So this is Maersk's latest quest for World Domination.
You WILL be assimilated, resistance is futile!

Seago Line has now revealed that it operates 5 services:
SCANMED, ALEX, KNSM, EUROLEV, and EUROMED, all of which are
existing Maersk Line services.
ALEX is a new service, linking the Adriatic with Egypt, Israel, Greece, and
Cyprus.

Well, - no surprises so far :)

Not much news on this thread lately, - however, not much news in the maritime
media regarding Seago Line either as far as I can figure out.
Update July 5:
Yesterday was launch day for www.seagoline.com
Some more details about this new venture are mentioned, however, apparently
still a long way to go ( ;D ) before this website is ready for business.
Schedules of the 5 strings operated are still Maersk Line schedules, no
feeder network mentioned (actually this information was removed from the
site within a few hours of the launch), only in English (7 more languages
to follow), and "full online booking system coming soon".
Or, to quote the website: "... this is just the beginning" !
Somewhat surprising that Seago has decided to launch their new business
by a test version of their website.

Today the feeder network has been added again to the new
website of Seago Line.
A total of 25 services (North Europe, West Med, and East
Med) are lined up.

Clever move by Maersk. All they are doing is exploiting movements of their deep sea movements to cover short sea movements. For example, they have vessels that call at Felixstowe then go to Antwerp. I'm about to move a couple of China Shipping boxes (who have no such feeder arrangement)with Seago who were only to pleased to help us. Yang Ming and
Zim (whose vessels also have a similar rotation) were not.

Update. Moved them with MSC instead who have decided to offer mirror services, but with considerably more sailings and at substantially lower rates.
