Post by: Jens Heri on May 09, 2011, 01:36:44 AM
Few hours ago fire broke out on Athena (imo 8907096) at Runavik, Faroe Islands.
This is the third time the vessel has been struck by large fire.
Last time was on October 2010 of Falmouth.

After that Athena was towed to Runavik, Faroe Islands where it arrived nov 23 2010.
At the time of this last fire the ship was being rebuilt from the last fire.

Last report is that the fire is out of control and large explosion are heard.

The two sole coast guard vessels we have Brimil and Tjaldrid are on their way - they have water canons.  Brimil is expected to arrive at 06 central european time.

No one is reported hurt in this fire.
