« on: October 13, 2006, 01:58:10 AM »
the news about hanjin shiping was informintive. hanjin shipping line is my favortie shipping line i have alot photos of  there cointaner ships that have called the port of vancouver and one i took in san fransicsco the HANJIN SHANGHAI. hnajin ships all have good nameing system wre they name all there ships bulker and coinater ships with place names. i like that having ships with hanjin prefix with place names of there ships so as ship photographer i can keep track of what hanjin ships i have in my colection. i know that there cape size bulkers have names after coal mines . liKe HANJIN HAYPOINT, HANIN DAMPIER and HANJIN ROBERTS BANK wich was named after our coal terminal south of vancouver wich is outside our harbour. aslo hanjin ships all have on side of there ships hanjin in big letters that looks neet too does any one like hanjin ships too .

Shipping News and information / usa tanker in canadian port
« on: October 09, 2006, 02:25:06 AM »
today in vancouver harbour a us regestry crude oil tanker POLAR DISCOVERY came into vancouver harbour and docked at one our docks. this ship has never been here at all to our oil terminals in vancouver harbour. this ship to my info goes from alaska to ports on usa west coast like long beach ca and oil terminals in washington state like cherry point , anachortes north of seattle. when is was in port angles wa in 1999 i got photos of two tankers anchored in port angles and one of them was the ARCO CALIFORINA now arco has changed there name of there tankers to polar does any know the info behind the change from arco to polar tankers. i was gald to get photo of this tanker i think she came her to be shown at confornce to do with the oceans and the envoriment. arco and other us crude oil tankers are big ships and good ships to get photos of. we get some crude oil tankers but the ones that are other regestry then us make calls in vancouver but anchore in english bay outside the vancouver harbour. i know some of are on serivice to transport crude oil from alaska to us west coast i like to more about this if any one knows more.
thanks

« on: September 08, 2006, 03:43:14 AM »
i saw the photo of two cointaner ships in the port of seattle they were the OOCL NETHERLANDS and the HANJIN OTTAWA well the OOCL NETHERLANDS left seattle on tuesday bound for vancouver bc  and is shculed to depart on friday at 2pm the HANJIN OTTAWA was here in vancouver on sunday wich she left vancouver bound for seattle i got photos of both ships and the point is the some of coinater ships that go to seattle come to vancouver when they depart that port like to day the hyundai line coinater ship HYUNDAI PATRIOT left seattle at 8am and arived in vancouver harbour around 3.15pm it took the HYUNDAI PATROIT about 7 hours to go from seattle to vancouver and htis has been happing lot. i have photographed ships in seattle in my opion and what i have expericed that seattle is not the great  port to photograph ships because is located on bay wich called elliot bay all seattle gets is mostly coinater ships and fishing tralwers from alaska but others ships types go there inculding the alaska cruise ships.

here in vancouver the brand new k line cointaner ship GEORGE WASHINGTON BRIDGE made her maden call to the port of vancouver . i got photo of her and she looked brand new and aslo equasis had her listed bulit in 2006. i got photo of the old GEORGE WASHINGTON BRIDGE now the world ship society magazine marine news aug 2006 issue had her listed renamed WEST GATE BRIDGE. the point is the  that i think that k line are nameing there new cointaner ships with the  old names on new ships like i would not be surpized if there is new harbour bridge, bay bridge and rhine bridge  . i like k line ships and there funnel is neet funnel with its red letter k on the funnel.

i looked at the web site from the us coast guard and the photos of the cougar ace are good photos but she is in very bad postion since she is listing. there is report in vancouver sun newspaper here in vancouver that her port she was bound for is new westmisnter on the fraser river is posible port that she wil be towed to. if does happen that she is towed to her her port of new westminster wich is suberb of vancouver would be great to get photo of her towed up the fraser river . the last time we had car carrier towed into port was in aug 2004 wich the car carrier ENSHIN was towed from out in the pacfic from the japan regesrty tug kiwo maru to her port on the faser river then towed her back to japan. so wil have to see if this happens agian the cougar ace is towed to here and back to japan.

i have seen ships go throu that channell on tv and seen photos of ships taken there i think that is narrows channel that i have seen in ports in the world. i am suprized this ship had ran around in the harbour is this the first time in the history of this port that had ships ran around in there harbour. this is real big news for that port . lucky here in the port of vancouver  are port is located on  a inlet so we do not have this narrow chanel like they do all we got is the enterence at frist narrows were it is narrow and the loins gate bridge goses across the enternce of our harbour.
