Post by: Henry23 on November 18, 2016, 07:45:59 PM
For those like myself who follow the UK shortsea market thought maybe this could be a good chat to start in addition to others for sharing renamings, sales and owner developments within the UK Coastal scene.

Comments and info welcome!

Ferus Smit has received an order for 4 mini bulkers from the Irish / Rotterdam based Arklow Shipping. The first two are planned for delivery in the second half of the 2018 with the other two following in May and November 2019

Spec's are for 16,500dwt Eco bulk carriers at 149.5 meters loa and a beam of 19.4 meters.

As new tonnage for Arklow hits the water currently such as the Arklow Cape and Arklow Valley in the 5000dwt sector, older tonnage is rumured to be preparing to look for buyers. Already the Arklow Rose (blt 2002) has been sold on to Welsh owner Charles M Willie and renamed Celtic Venture.

Further to the above it has been reported the Arklow Wave (blt 2003) has been purchased by Nova Marine Carriers SA and renamed NACC Toronto this November. No doubt with the recent Carisbrooke Shipping tie up Nova Marine Carriers are sourcing similar tonnage. The Arklow Wave is a gearless sister to Carisbrooke's 13,400dwt vessels such as Amy C, Heleen C etc.

Arklow Wave's sister, Arklow Willow (blt 2004) was previously sold this year to the Canadian company McKeil Marine for operating within the Great Lakes being named Florence Spirit.

Thank you David for noticing my typo! Tany is certainly not a river in the West Country I'm aware of that fits with Exe's naming scheme.

Or maybe copied from here:

Mia (imo 9312688) has been re-named Amber Sky. Anyone know if she has been bought / TC by Amberseas Shipipng Ltd, UK?

Arklow Rally now indeed re-named Celtic Freedom.

Arklow Rambler (imo 9250426) - now Norwegian owned, named Falksea (Poss self-discharge conversion)

Scot Explorer (imo 9137193) - now Greek owned and named SMN Explorer (Scotline remain as managers)

Understand more of the Arklow R-Class will follow for sale as the new V + C Class are delivered.
