Within hours after I posted a photo of submarine Zeeleeuw it was deleted along with all the valuable comments made by some of our members while others never even had a chance to see it.

allow members to re-upload a better version so possible valuabvle comments made byother members will get not lost as well.

Also please give members warning prior to deletion allowing to re-upload another, better pics.

How can I re-upload a photo of one that was deleted today?

How can I see which image was deleted so I can replace it with a better one?

How can I recover/Access the comments made to a photo that was deleted today,
including those made by Clive Harvey, Kyle Stubbs and George Schneider.

Would it be possible to get a forewarning notice that a photograph is going to be deleted
so the member can see which one; and can re-upload another one and also read and
recover all valuable comments made by fellow members?

How are IMO numbers generated?

How can a vessel built in 1973 have an IMO of 4500163?

Site related news, functions and modules / deletion "pixilated" photos

two of my photos posted of very rare bulker Rong An Cheng, IMO 9742950 (see link above)
are considered for deletion because the are "pixilated."

Especially considering the rarity of this vessel, it baffles me why these photos would have to
be deleted..... Way worse quality of way more common vessels are not deleted.

Having seven photographs deleted in one swoop/one message is discouraging.

They included very unusual barges returning from the Red Dog mining operation
in northern Alaska, Beaufort Sea. I am the only photographer having taken these.

I went out of my way in terrible stormy weather to take these and though they
are clearly in focus with their names visible. they were considered "blurry."
Severe weather conditions can result in somewhat "blurry" photos, but that is all
part of the conditions they were taken in.

Now whereas literally hundreds of boring photos of the same cruise ship are accepted,
photos of a few interesting and very unusual barges are deleted because they do not
meet standards that are set too strict.

At the other hand, Shipspotting does not care at all about the quality of the technical
data of the vessels they do accept. Technical Data is full of very annoying mistakes and
wrong data:

here is one example: http://www.shipspotting.com/gallery/photo.php?lid=3356556

Also, the vessel identification in that section is full of typos and incorrect use of
lower and upper cases.

Having contributed close to 11,000 photos on Shipspotting, I have become very discouraged.

With a number of recent and even not so recent photographs, this photo of Celebrity Millennium was deleted today as "out of focus."

This followed my new topic of the previous day about photo requirements/standards re: fog photography.

If my photos are not be able to be good enough to meet your standards, I might as well delete the rest of my 10,000 photographs here on Shipspotting.....

Site related news, functions and modules / fog photography - standards?

I disagree that this photo had ro be deleted as hazy/out of focus:

look at how sharp the foreground is;

though maybe somewhat shrouded in morning fog, vessel can certainly be recognized.

is it possible to reverse (repost) accidentally "deleted photos by myself"?

Why am I suddenly having a problem with "always stay logged in?"

Every time I now open Shipspotting I have to do the user name, password
and "always stay logged in" procedure.

Between having logged in with my user name and password and clicked
"always stay logged in" on the Home page, even switching to Forum right
after, I have to go through the whole process of logging in again.

Very annoying indeed!

Since I never got a straight answer on my question I previously posted under the topic "posting historic photographs" and the topic drifted away in the misc. replies, on the suggestion of the webmaster I start it as a new topic:

Here is my original question:

Policy re: posting (and claiming) other people's photographs" I quote web master Ken Smith:

"Where commercial rights are believed to be breached, images are removed and can only be reinstated where specific permission can be shown."

"Where a specific non-commercial copyright claim is made by another member or from elsewhere the image is categorised "Copyright Questionable" and a prompt check made before deletion."

"Other "non-member" photos are accepted at face value - they should either indicate the original photographer or, for those where that is not possible, explain the provenance.  Some of these are investigated either specifically or on a random basis, and action is taken as appropriate."

Now, taking this interesting historic photograph of liner-troopship-liner Tegelberg taken in 1939;
(claimed as his own by member who posted it!), should be deleted according to rules quoted above.

BTW: This Tegelberg photo and all others of same vessel show the wrong IMO as well (5354391 >> 5535439).

There are many more that should be deleted according to the rules. This would be a real loss.

So, instead of deleting them, why not just leaving them and quoting these as "photographer: unknown"

13
What is the policy on posting historic photographs?

If the vessel is not actually spotted/photographed by a certain member,
should this still qualify to be posted on a site by the name shipspotting?

If historic photos taken by others can be posted, is it kosher that
the member posts these under his own name?

following the demise of vessel's owner Pullmantur Cruises, Monarch and Sovereign
after having been stripped at Naples, Italy are now reportedly en route to
Turkey to be scrapped. Now stopped and waiting for orders.... What's happening?
