Title: Fjord Eternite.
Post by: Daniel B on February 25, 2011, 11:46:14 PM
Rio Tinto Alcan in La Baie, Quebec, have bought the ASD Stevns Icecap and will rename her: Fjord Eternite. Eternite is the name of a picturesque cape on the Saguenay river. The vessel will be delivered and unloaded from a semi-submersible vessel in Halifax.

It was showing at Svendborg on marinetraffic until March 7.
Registered in Canada March 7.
AIS was turned off on that day? It may still be in Svendborg.

It's normal when vessel are dry-shipped to turn off AIS.
But last signal noted 1333UTC 11/3 as STEVNS ICECAP

Perhaps going on heavy-lift FAIRLANE which passed Gibraltar 14/3 for Svendborg, with ETA 18/3.

Thx for the info.

It's possible that the Fairlane is going to Svendborg for this tug. I think it has enough crane capacity to lift the ship.

Fairlane is due in Halifax about the end of March to load railway locomotives. It therefore seems like a good bet that it will be carrying Fjord Eternite!

AIS is now back on as Fjord Eternite.

And on Marinetraffic there are photos of her with new name and colours. Thanks to Eric!
