Shipping News and information / Laust Maersk
« on: June 30, 2020, 04:28:57 PM »
Can anybody advise about the IMO-number of the first Laust Maersk of 1957/1958, Built Odense with yard number 141.
She had a collision with Alcoa Pioneer in 1961 and sank as a consequence.
Thanks in advance.
Cheers,
Roy

Hi Allan,
Just did a search on containerships built 2020-2022 (what I normally do) and the amound of hits has been reduced to 85, all for 2020. A few weeks ago I still got more then 300 hits with delievery dates running into 2022.

Shipping News and information / Re: MSC Car Carriers
« on: February 03, 2020, 11:23:39 PM »
Boa Noite Ricardo,
As far as I can see they have two car carriers, the Cristiana and the Immacolata, built in 2011 and 2012.
I really don't know why they differentiated into this category.

Roy

Hi Giomurva,
If you are talking about actual teu (twenty feet equivalent unit, the standard for container capacity) on board then you won't find that anywhere.
If you are talking about the maximum amount of teu a ship can load then you can find that on several shipping sites. Please note that the maximum capacity is in general a much higher amount then the actual maximum amount a container ship will ever carry.
This due to unused slots (over-wide cargo etc.), line of sight forward of accommodation, high-cube containers instead of standard high containers, crane reach in ports on route, weight distribution of cargo (stability) and several other factors.
I have been sailing for many years on a 7000 teu vessel and we never carried more then 6100 teu, and that was full load.

Roy

Help and Advice / Re: Cameras and Photography Advice Forum
« on: July 20, 2019, 06:38:44 PM »
Hi Cedric,

Indeed haze is a problem when shooting at sea. I have a lot of pictures with loads of haze especially from Singapore and China, also when zooming in the problem becomes worse.

You can easily "de-haze" with a lot of photo programs.
I don't know if you shoot raw or Jpeg, but with a lot of cameras you can also raise the contrast for Jpeg output, which will already help.
However you will never get it 100% away.

Cheers,
Roy

Hi David,
Indeed, what Emmanuel means, it is not possible to view "Comments to my photos" as well. It gives "error 28 from storage engine".

« on: July 13, 2019, 01:27:25 PM »
I noticed then since a couple of days it is not possible to view "Top Photos" for 30 days upward.
So only possible to view 24, 48 hours and 7 days.

Shipping News and information / Re: New(?) CMA CGM ships
« on: February 20, 2019, 01:45:04 AM »
Hi Jeff,
Did a search but much to my disappointment I'm currently not able to help you.
I suppose they will be around 2500 teu as the other ships in that service.
To my knowledge they have no such size ships on order so I suppose they will be chartered in.
Cheers,
Roy

Thanks Gents for the information.

Anybody knows what happened to the order for 3 containerships of around 11.000teu for Oceanbulk at Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding.
They should have been delivered back in 2017 originally.
Has the order been sold onwards with delayed delivery, or has the order been cancelled altogether?
Cheers,
Roy

Scale Models / Re: Nedlloyd Kyoto
« on: December 27, 2018, 10:47:03 AM »
Hoi Patrick,
Did a quick search on google and it seems that the maritime museum in Rotterdam indeed has a model of the Kyoto.
We were there with the "Rotterdam branch" a couple of years ago, and they have a lot of models that are actually not on display.
Cheers / Groeten,
Roy
