Damco came in the hands of Nedlloyd in 1977, subsequently it was owned by P&O Nedlloyd after the fusion with P&O end 1996.
In 2005 Maersk bought P&O Nedlloyd and Damco came into the hands of the Maersk group.

Help and Advice / Re: Digital zoom vs optical zoom
« on: August 28, 2020, 12:30:22 AM »
Hi Mattyboy,

Just checked your pictures and you use a Fujifilm HS10 (nice pictures!).
This mean the RX10 and FZ1000 should give you a bump in image quality.

I forgot to mention the Canon G3 X, same league as the above though without a viewfinder (you can buy an external one extra).

I personally use the RX10 mark III and am very happy with it.

Cheers,
Roy

Help and Advice / Re: Digital zoom vs optical zoom

Hi Mattyboy,

If you want a bridge camera and best quality available you have the following options:
-Sony RX10 mark III or IV. The mark IV is quite expensive and more for sports / fast moving objects.
-Panasonic FZ1000 mark I or II as already mentioned by other members.
-Panasonic FZ2000, little more expensive then FZ1000 and more orientated to video.
The above options all have same size sensor and consequently more or less same image quality.
Other options are Panasonic TZ 100 and TZ 200 and Sony RX100 mark VI and mark VII, those are smaller and have generally less quality lenses compared to the ones mentioned above, though still the same, relatively large, sensor.

Do not know what your current camera is but smaller size sensors will give you less image quality, especially in low light.
If you go for the small sensor camera's I would recommend the Panasonic FZ300 as the only real option. An advantage for the FZ300 is that you currently can buy one for less than 400 euro's. It will still give you nice pictures.

I think all of the above will also have digital zooming on top of their optical zoom. I however never use the digital zoom and rather crop the picture on my laptop.

Cheers,
Roy

Hi Bruno,

Evergreen has quite some ships on order, among them:
6x 24000 teu ships from Samsung, South Korea and 4x 24000 teu from Chinese yards.
They are in the progress of receiving 8x 11000 teu ships from Samsung, South Korea. Names so far Ever Faith, Focus, Forward and Front.
They will also receive further 11 similar vessels from Imabari, Japan. First one to be named Ever Far.
Then they are also in the progress of receiving 28 Ever-C class vessels, around 1800 teu.
On top of that they will receive 14 2500 teu ships.

Regarding CMA CGM please note my reply on your separate post.

Ocean Fleets, formally known as Ocean Ships is always a great source.
Though you can also easily search the web for current fleet-lists. Equasis is a great site with multiple search options.

Cheers,
Roy

Again today, after uploading quite some pictures I had the same issue.
After quitting Safari (web-browser) and deleting all cookies and cashes and history from Safari I was able to upload again.
So still not sure what causes the issue, but at least there is a cure at hand.
Anybody else using Safari having this issue after uploading many pictures?
Cheers,
Roy

Hi David,
Have sent you a PM as well as an email.
Thanks in advance.

How silly it may have sounded especially when uploading started working normal again without obvious reason some time ago, I currently have the same problem again.
Tried to upload a picture with 3996x2562 pixels without success. Lowered the size to 2571x1649 pixels and the same warning popped up.
This seems rather strange.
Any ideas?
Cheers,
Roy

Not sure what happened. Tried to upload same picture as this morning but further downsized and succeeded.
Then uploaded the same as tried this morning with same size and also succeeded.

Very strange as I had the warning on several occasions in the past two days.

Roy

The last picture I tried to upload this morning was within the maximum limits (I always make sure they are less then 4000 pixels any direction); 3991x2404 pixels with total size of 1.7mb.

As said I'm doing the same as always, i.e. resize my pictures so that they are within the limits.
I posted so far 31 pictures this leave without any problems and then suddenly the warning as stated above started appearing.

Cheers,
Roy

When trying to upload pictures the last two days I get following warning:
Photo resolution should be between (1024px x 768px) and (4000px x 4000px)

I'm doing nothing different then when normally uploading pictures.
I always make sure that resolution is within the 4000 pixel limit.
Not sure where the 1024x768 is coming from now.
I can see other pictures recently uploaded by different members having more then 1024x768.

Please advise.

Cheers,
Roy

CMA CGM Tenere

They are chartered from Eastern Pacific and built at Hyundai Samho yard in South Korea.

Though not sure which corresponds with which.

Help and Advice / Re: Unsharp pictures
« on: July 11, 2020, 05:32:02 PM »
Thanks for your remarks gents.
In the meantime fired up my old macbook and did some comparison tests.
It seems to be some monitoring setting (screen resolution?) on my new macbook. The pictures opened from the thumbnail (large pictures but not full screen) seem nice sharp on my old macbook but not so on my new one.
However when opening the same picture in "Full Screen" mode it looks way sharper (really a big difference) on my new macbook.

Help and Advice / Unsharp pictures
« on: July 10, 2020, 06:51:19 PM »
I have recently bought a new laptop (macbook) and the pictures I have since the purchase (end June) uploaded seem very unsharp when opened from the Thumbnail (Thumbnails as well look awful).
Only when opened "Full screen" the picture will regain its sharpness, proving the pictures are actually sharp.
This was never the case with all my former pictures uploaded, which were always sharp when opened from the Thumbnail.
Anybody has the same issue with a new Mac? Or any idea to make the normal picture (none full screen) look sharp again.
Thanks in advance for any advice.
Cheers,
Roy

Thanks Gents,
In that case I will again remove the number.
Don't fancy very much these fake IMO-numbers.
Cheers,
Roy
