NZ exporters are becoming frustrated with on going container vessel delays. A group of meat exporters have chartered a reefer to load meat in New Plymouth , Lyttelton and Tauranga.
She is Cool Expreso IMO 9085479, and she is coming in ballast from Posorja Ecuador.
She will discharge at the Port of Stockton, which is up the San Joaquin River from San Francisco.
Also the car carrier Istra Ace IMO 9318503 is due in Marsden Point from Iquique Chile to load Triboard for Hiroshima Japan.

The bulk carrier Oriental Spirit IMO 9326316 is due at Northport on 19 January from Port Alma in Australia to, according to the website, discharge containers. She will then sail for Brisbane. Does anyone know what service she is chartered for?

Tasman Chief IMO 9363546 ex Lily Auerbach is replacing Kokopo Chief on Swire's Trans Tasman schedule. I guess Kokopo Chief will finally be joining her sister Melanesian Chief at the breakers yard at Alang.

Matson are adding the Olomana to the China New Zealand Express service. That will make three vessels on the schedule.

CMA CGM Marlin IMO 9322463 is replacing Ionikos on Cosco's NZS service.

Tasman Chief IMO 9363546 ex Lily Auerbach is replacing Kokopo Chief on Swire's Trans Tasman schedule. I guess Kokopo Chief will finally be joining her sister Melanesian Chief at the breakers yard at Alang.
Kokopo Chief has had another reprieve from the breakers. She is now sailing from Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne to Apia, Noumea and Port Vila.

MSC are adding Pohorje IMO 9294824 to the Capricorn service. She may be replacing MSC Astrid which is loading Napier on the Noumea Express Service. Also Warnow Chief is calling at Bluff on this service before sailing for Sydney.

Tacoma Trader IMO 9675810 is doing two voyages to Noumea and Papua New Guinea, to cover for Sofrana Tourville and Sofrana Surville. These two vessels will head to Singapore for drydocking a month apart.

GH Zonda (IMO 9436472) is appearing on some MSC schedules as MSC Zonda III.

MSC are now showing MSC Resilient III (IMO 9240873) joining the New Kiwi Express Service. She is ex Bomar Resilient which has also been on this service.

Kota Nabil IMO 9356830 is doing one voyage as an extra loader on the China New Zealand Service. She will call Singapore - Sydney - Auckland - Tauranga - Lyttelton - Wellington - Singapore.

Seattle Express IMO 9348687 is replacing London Express on the WCNA PANZ schedule.
Spirit of Melbourne IMO 9362401 is transferring from the Trident schedule to replace Maersk Cairo on the ANZL2 RTW schedule. Maersk Virginia IMO 9235531 is replacing Skagen Maersk on the same schedule.

Spirit of Auckland IMO 9360752 is replacing Spirit of Melbourne on the Trident schedule.

Northport is upping their game as a container shipping port.
MSC vessels will start calling for the kiwifruit season, with the Cali and MSC Corinna due in April.
The Panama Direct Line (PAD) is adding Northport to the schedule with the Nordpacific, Mariner and Nordamelia all calling in April.
Also there is a yet unnamed Asian southbound vessel that will discharge due to the ongoing congestion in Auckland.
These add to the fortnightly call of the coastal container vessel Moana Chief.

Maersk Willemstadt IMO 9362401 is being added to the ECNA Trident schedule. She is doing a southbound voyage from China to Brisbane and Timaru, before heading to Melbourne, Port Chalmers and Tauranga to load for ECNA.
She is replacing Safmarine Bayete.

Maersk's Fern schedule that utilises Seaspan Hanover and Maersk Nadi to Fiji, and the Polaris schedule that utilises Maersk Nansha to Brisbane are terminating in July. All future schedules are TBA.
Neptune Pacific Direct line that takes slots on the Fern schedule have advised that are to look at reorganising their Fiji schedule.

Xin Qing Dao (IMO:9270452) is to replace Bernhard Schulte on the North Asia Service.

Due to Maersk exiting the NZ to Fiji trade, Neptune Pacific Direct Line are looking to add additional tonnage to their schedule.
Until this happens and to facilitate schedule integrity, they will be transferring Capitaine Baret IMO 9419668 in September to the run. She will do NZ - Tahiti - Fiji - NZ.
The Capitaine Dampier will take over the Fiji to ECNA schedule from the Capitaine Baret.

Maersk Nansha IMO 9385996 will call Timaru - Lyttelton - Nelson - Tauranga.
Maersk Nadi IMO 9386017 will call Auckland - Tauranga - Timaru - Lyttelton.
Moana Chief will still do her coastal schedule for Pacifica Shipping.

From the end of July Zim Line are cancelling the NZ3A schedule and using the Trinidad Trader, Toronto Trader and Contship Ono on the NZ2A schedule. They will drop calls into Napier, and the vessels will do Melbourne - Sydney - Auckland - Tauranga - Lyttleton -Melbourne.

Zim Lines China Australia Express service is crossing the Tasman in July calling Lyttelton, Napier and Auckland. The vessel will be ALS Venus IMO 9525948. This appears to be a one off voyage.

Second Pacifica coastal container vessel is due in September. Along with Maersk that will make four vessels plying the coast.

There are two interesting arrivals at Northport in early August.
The Hunan is due from Singapore and the Shanghai Spirit is due from Brisbane.
Both vessels are bulk carriers, but they are listed as "discharging containers".
I would surmise that maybe they are empty reefers, as there is a shortage in the country for the export kiwifruit season.
Unusual to use bulkers, but I guess needs must.

Swire Shipping have added Timaru to the Trans Tasman schedule with their vessel Tasman Chief.

A new shipping service has been launched from Tasmania to Bluff, Lyttelton and Nelson.
They are using the Eidsvaag Omega IMO 9763784. She has been converted from a general cargo vessel into a self unloading bulk fish feed carrier. Her first call at Bluff is 8th August. On her first voyage she is also calling at Picton.

A new shipping service called ANZ shuttle is being launched using Tacoma Trader IMO 9675810. It will call Brisbane - Noumea - Tauranga.

The new vessel joining the NPDL fleet is Capitaine Tupaia IMO 9410301. She is ex AS Serafina and Maersk Wolgast. She is doing a southbound voyage from Asia and will berth at Auckland Container Terminal on 13 September. She will eventually replace Capitaine Dampier on the Tahiti trade. The latter vessel will partner Capitaine Tasman on the Fiji trade.

Former Hambug-Sud UCC Spirit of Hamburg is the second sister to be "Maersk-ised" and will rejoin the fleet at Cartagena as Maersk Wellington replacing Maersk Bintan on NZ/America OC1/Trident service (and Australia).

Pacifica Shippings second coastal vessel is named Takutai Chief. She is ex Lihir Chief IMO 9519327.
She will call Auckland-Lyttelton-Marsden Point-Tauranga, and on alternate weeks Marsden Point will be replaced with Timaru.
Meanwhile Moana Chief will do a dedicated Auckland-Lyttelton-Nelson-Tauranga.
This will mean the main ports will have a call every 3.5 days.

MV Stride, ex Hyundai Stride IMO 9149835 will replace Kalliroe on Cosco Shippings China Express service.
Before Stride enters service there will be one round trip voyage performed by AS Penelope IMO 9294537. She ex Nordwelle, and ex Welle.

Interislander Line have confirmed they have purchased their leased freight ferry Valentine IMO 9166625. They will now have four ferries to see them through the busy summer season. There is no news yet on a new name for the vessel, but that will happen when the port of registry is changed from Malta.

It appears that the small bulk carrier Anatoki is to be joined by a second vessel.
She has been renamed Rangitata (IMO 9340740) with the following details.
Built 2007, 1653 grt, 1650 dwt, 67M x 12M. Bulk or containers (102 teu).

ANL are replacing the Safeen Prime and the ANL Dhambi on the Trans Tasman service.
The vessel replacing Safeen Prime is the Xpress Nuptse IMO 9678630

Jogela is in fact replacing Xin Qing Dao, not standing in for Tianjin Bridge. :-\

For the busy period in the run up to Christmas, Capitaine Wallis is transferring to the Auckland to Noumea trade. This will free up the larger Capitaine Magellan to do the Intra island trade from Suva.

Box IMO 9766047 which is due Auckland 1 December and will then head for Melbourne. In Auckland the vessels will use the general cargo wharves.

Contship Win IMO 9395604 is replacing Tacoma Trader on the Brisbane - Noumea - Tauranga schedule.
Feeder Ace IMO 9961271 is joining the service, calling Brisbane - Sydney - Tauranga. She will be renamed ANL Trans Tasman at a later date.

Neptune Pacific Direct line are joining the CMA GGM/ANL trans tasman service. They are providing Capitaine Baret IMO 9419668. She will replace XPress Nuptse in Sydney at the end of December.

Veteran Cap Jackson IMO9484560 making an "ad hoc" voyage on US West Coast service, from Seattle mid November to Auckland, Australia, and then Tauranga where due 2.1.23. The 4,600 TEU vessel was completed in2010 and joins her sister on the service.

ANZ Shuttle vessel Feeder Ace IMO 9961271 is to be renamed ANL Tasman Trader in Tauranga prior to voyage 2228.

NPDL are replacing Southern Tiare IMO 8719176 on the Norfolk Island run with a purpose built 80 metre landing craft. The vessel is being built at a Malaysian shipyard and will be ready in March 2023. She will have 10 reefer plugs on deck and longer term will be able to be used for roll on roll off operation. She will sail Brisbane - Norfolk - Auckland - Norfolk - Brisbane.

Trinidad Trader IMO 9675808 on Zim's NZ2A service is being renamed Contship Rex. They are also adding Big Lilly IMO 9150406 as a fourth vessel on the schedule.

The bulk carrier Shanghai Spirit IMO 9326328 is due at Northport (Whangarei) from Port Alma. The arrivals list has her again discharging containers before returning to Australia. An unusual cargo for a bulk carrier.

GSL Kithira IMO 9407885 is replacing Maersk Garonne on the North Asia (JKN) service. She is a larger vessel being 52726 grt and 5303 teu capacity. The latter vessel is heading for the repair yard for survey.

Cosco Felixstowe IMO 9246401 is replacing Jogela on the (JKN) North Asia schedule. The latter vessel is replacing her on the A3S Australia to China service.

There are vessel changes on Zim Lines NZ2A Australia to NZ service.
Contship Dax and Contship Rex are leaving the schedule, being replaced by H Cygnus IMO 9946233 and H Mercury IMO 9946245. Big Lilly will also remain on the schedule.
They also show a one off feeder vessel Anna Gabriele IMO 9045699 calling Marsden Point 31/12 and Auckland 1/1.
This vessel is at present trading as LDR Bedel and is in Novorossiysk Russia.

Move Logistics new vessel "Atlas Wind" arrived in ballast at Wellington from Mebourne. She then sailed to Brisbane, and is loading at Port Alma for Whangarei. Could be a cargo of containers as Port Alma is where the bulker Shanghai Spirit also loaded containers for discharge in Whangarei.

Port Alma is known for Ammonium Nitrate (explosives) and tallow exports and a small amount of petroleum imports. It's a very small, shallow port in the middle of nowhere near Rockhampton. What's in the containers ??
I posted an aerial shot a few years ago, luckily flying high enough to escape the sandflies that infest the place . . .

Hi, I don't know what the cargo was, but the Shanghai Spirit berthed at 5.30am and sailed at midday. So not many containers in that time frame. She sailed to Bundaberg to load a cargo of sugar for South Korea.

MSC Tania IMO 9316373 and MSC Lidia IMO 9383223 are transferring from the Panda service to the New Kiwi Express service.

A couple of changes are to take place on the South East Asia Service operated by Hamburg-Sud
SFL Maui 307S will phase out in Singapore, replaced by Monte Tamaro (IMO 9357949) 307S.
Rio de La Plata 310S will also phase out in Singapore, replaced by SFL Hawaii (IMO: 9679555) 310S.
