The search for a man who fell from an Irish Continental Group ferry off the UK coast at the weekend has been called off.
The unidentified man was reported overboard from the 34,031-gt Isle of Inishmore (built 1997) off the coast of Wales at 22:30 on Saturday.
Crew onboard marked the spot at which the man was believed to have gone overboard with a smoke marker and a rescue craft was immediately deployed.
A French naval vessel and one of its helicopters which were in the area joined in the search and rescue operation which was coordinated by Milford Haven Coastguard.
However, no signs of the man were found and the search was called off at 00:30 on Sunday. The matter was handed over to local police and the vessel continued its voyage to Wales.
The Cyprus-flagged Isle of Inishmore was en route to Fishguard from the Irish port of Rosslare when the incident occurred less than 20 miles off St David
