What about adding more ports to the drop down menu port list.
From time to time a lot of comments and questions about it in the forum.
A lot of ports in different areas and countries around the world not covered, including countries without sea but with big river ports ( a bunch in Europe ) and of course big ports and new ones not covered, for example, in Canary Islands.
Well, think about it...
Regards.

Hi guys.

Well I need to say something about the BBC report posted before by our fellow member Robert.

It's simply that one of the journalist from the Spanish newspaper El Pais, without nothing else to write, because its too obvius..., >:(  forgot that the Cartagena Naval Base has more than 2.400 meters of available piers including 4 x 78 meters submarine piers from 1927. The BBC takes the info just out from Spanish El Pais newspaper.

The name of the journalist its Miguel Gonzalez and here its the link to the original article in Spanish https://elpais.com/politica/2018/07/17/actualidad/1531846944_777118.html

That its known long time ago ( 7 years ago, 2011 ), and the budget, 16 million Euros. Nothing new. The lengthening of the 4 x 78 meters docks and dredging of the actual pits 2 x 30 meters x 78 meters, included in the before mentioned budget, plus several new logistics sites, new facilities, workshops for torpedoes, batteries, etc, warehouses, new data, power, water, fuel, etc...connecting lines to the sub.docks, etc... for the new S/80 or S/80 Plus 4 units class. From the total budget of 16 million Euros, the major investment its for the 2 simulators, combat and platform, and its new buildings.

Actually the journalist its mixing...politically...oil and water...remember that in Spain all military/defence expenses or investments its like a taboo or bulls... for certain people, or better said, for certain characters.

Do you remember the cost for the British MOD the Portsmouth HMNB new pier facilities for the 2 new RN Aircraft Carriers...because they are really big, and needs a lot pier spaces, all kind of new services and logistics, etc...?,... well, the same with Spanish Navy Cartagena Submarine Base.

And by the way, the submarine base at Cartagena has a very interesting story.

In Spanish, easy to translate....

...En tiempos de Fernando VI se iniciaron en el muelle Norte de la d

 Hi guys.

German Navy Frigate SACHSEN F219. During exercices at North Sea, one SM-2 missile explode
on the fore deck after the failure of the vertical launcher (the missile did not leave
the silo where it is housed ). The launcher's shield prevented major damage. There are 2
injured crew members and significant material-structural damage in the affected area.
Incident happened 2 weeks ago. The photo shows the moment of the huge explosion.

Hi MattyBoy my friend.

Well, well, well, what an interesting topic... :). Still after 27 years (married) I have my hobbies intact and alive. No special secret or else. As other fellow members get different points of view ( as they commented before), I think, at least in my case, negotiation and some psychology... ;D 8).

For example, when we travel I discuss first the destinations...( of course, some sea water smell places included. At least one, or two, or three...jajaja. And some without and really inland places for her. Some times we agree and go together, others negotiate, and others we split to different places.

Included in negotiations: Shipspotting, naval or maritime museums, naval memorials or else for me... ::) and...shopping centers, malls, churches, museums, or else for her... 8)

That means that some days (vacation or just trips )abroad we are kilometers away from each other doing what we both like. Simple. I enjoy my hobbies and she enjoy hers...

You know what I hate more, walking down the street watching shops windows and each 5 minutes..."wait, wait, wait for me 1 minute Im going inside to see something"...( that famous 1 minute inside the shop in real time is no less than 15 to 20, minimun... ???)  And thats the life my friend. What else you can do but just wait outside. But...when negotiations come to the table, I remember her the total time I was stand outside hundreds of shops waiting... ;D and thats it.

So finally, the answer to your main question is NO. Its your hobby, but negotiates and applies some psychology. For sure she has her own hoobies too.

The best for you my friend.

Hi Rick my friend.

Well, no problem with "Reina Sofia" pier. The accident was at the Nelson Mandela pier ( La Esfinge area behind the shipyards) at the new port area.

Stand by Rick.

Hi.

Agree with you Frans. The speed almost 9,9 Knots seconds before the impact...rudder blocked to portside after the Blackout and so on...on Apr.21. Besides the huge and strong impact seems not  to much damage

Yesterday Apr. 22, Volcan de Tamasite was moved to ASTICAN shypyards. Last night was dry on the syncrolift yard area ready to be repaired ( Naviera Armas really fast move...). Works started today Apr 23.

Well, more info and shots about the accident.

Hi Frans.

You're welcome.

By the way, they are now trying to contain the oil products spill ( 3 kms x 400 meters) around 200 Tons after the breaking of shore pipelines..

The ferry docked on its own (power) an hour after the collision.

Some more photos after the ferry docked back at La Esfinge Terminal, Las Palmas Port.

Hello guys.

Last evening Apr.21, when the Ferry Volcan de Tamasite was just leaving La Esfinge terminal at Las Palmas Port, bound for Santa Cruz de Tenerife, suffered a blackout.

The problem was that the blackout happened when was turning to port just outside the pier entrance. So the vessel keeps turning to port (the crew dropped the anchor) almost doing a 180... until the fore struck the outer concrete pier protection and smashed and broke it partially, together with several oil products pipelines and a couple of cars and trucks at the pier...

Well, better watch the videos and photos at the gallery. Links in Spanish:

In the first link, watch full size-screen the first video at the right side...Interesting.
