Title: Shipping company files for bankruptcy protection

Genco Shipping filed for bankruptcy as weakness in charter rates made it difficult for the company to pay its creditors.

They have suffered from a glut of vessels that they bought before 2008 global recession, other shipping companies who have filed for bankruptcy includes Overseas Shipholding Group in 2012 and Excel Maritime Carriers last year.
