With the Rangatira up for sale, does this mean South Pacific Shipping are no longer involved with shipping to the Chatham Islands? Have they bowed to pressure from Chatham Islands Shipping Ltd?
I see Chatham Islands Shippings' Southern Tiare is under repair at Lyttelton for a month, and they are using both the Anatoki and Norfolk Guardian for the service.
-
MSC are to replace the Calicanto Bridge with the Arosia (IMO 9327669) in June.
Also due for replacement is the MSC Vienna with an unnamed vessel, also in June.
It appears that the Frisia Amsterdam which has just completed her first voyage to New Zealand on the Northern Star Service, is to be renamed Maersk Jabal when she reaches Singapore. That is only an assumption at the moment, but Maersk Jabal is appearing on the Maersk schedule with the same dates and voyage numbers as the Frisia Amsterdam which is still listed.
-
The Maersk Jabal is ex "Bright Future", ex "Kota Permasen" IMO 9343077. She visited here for one voyage to cover for Jens Maersk's drydocking. I think she may be replacing Frisia Amsterdam.

I notice on Marine Traffic and also on this site, that the "Anatoki" is now showing as registered in Jakarta Indonesia. Anyone shed any light on this?
-
re: Marinetraffic - looks like crap data. MMSI 512000390 shown with that data is a NZ allocation (Indonesian MMSIs begin 525------), and no evidence of change of call-sign.
Look at Maritime-Connector: http://maritime-connector.com/ship/anatoki-8864153/print/
Like the grosstonnage.com data on here, it has 375gt which belongs with the previous name BAHANA NUSANTARA, but that was a total loss in 1998. M-C also give owner as "Jembatan Madura PT, Surabaya" That company hasn't been in business since 1975, when it became PT Jembatan Nusantara. Goodness known which BLUE MOON they think she also was.

Hi Stephen,

Cheers,
JR

-
As of today, Thursday 15, "Fjordvik" is still at Onehunga:

Won't be sailing till Sunday at the earliest - delays arising from the change of flag to Bahamas Maritime Authority.

Anyone in Tauranga know if the Dora C is replacing the Sofrana Tourville? They are both in on the same day and are identical vessels. They are both down to sail for Auckland, however the Auckland list only has the Sofrana Tourville arriving.

Does anyone know about the small ship "Claymore II"? At the moment she seems to be running a service from Princes Wharf in Auckland to Gulf Harbour on Auckland's upper North Shore.
-
Hi Stephen
Claymore II normally dwells in Tauranga between bi-monthly approx. sailings to Pitcairn Island for Stoneycreek Shipping. She was reactivated about a week ago that I thought was for another Pitcairn run which per your report not correct.
Chenan - another of Swire's "C" class will be handed over to breakers in January.
Hohebank -due to be replaced in next few weeks by CV1100 class MSC Kia Ora IMO9364344 ex Tampa Bay.
The bulker Crystal Palace currently on the coast is carrying a "Ravensdown" funnel indicating the fertiliser manufacturer has her under charter.

-
Cement carrier Milburn Carrier II is due in Onehunga 16 October at 11.30am. "Onehunga, the port that refuses to die" :) :)
-
Due to the high level of demand for cargo into Fiji, especially timber, Matsons are adding an extra sailing with MV Islander IMO 9085596. She will load Auckland 20 October for Suva and Lautoka before resuming her usual sailings between the Pacific Islands and Honolulu. She was last in NZ waters as Maersk Asia Decimo.
-
Hi Stephen,
It's the first of two visits MC2 will make to top up the silos before time is called on my home port. There's also a possibility of Anatoki making a final call before Ports of Auckland hand ownership of Onehunga over to the NZ Transport Agency - see the link below.

Matson have decided to add Islander IMO 9085596 to their permanent Pacific Island schedule out of Auckland. The rotation will be Honolulu-Apia-Pago Pago- Nukualofa- Auckland - Suva- Lautoka- Honolulu. This brings to three, the number of vessels they have sailing out of Auckland, with the others being Imua II and Liloa II.
-
Neptune Shipping are replacing Capitaine Wallis with the larger Capitaine Dampier, ex Gloria IMO 9230787. This will allow them to introduce a call into Nukualofa on their NZ to Fiji service.

The final sailing of "Milburn Carrier II" from Onehunga took place last Tuesday, 15 November, ending roughly 180 years of shipping at the Port of Onehunga.
The port officially closes to shipping on 30 November, but no other shipping movements are scheduled. The port's tug, "Tika", is currently for sale, and is available for delivery from 1 December.
Holcim's new (to NZ) ship "Buffalo" is due to arrive in Nelson circa 9 December from Singapore, where she is currently completing modification work. She will remain in Nelson until the end of January 2017, by which time she will be commissioned and made operational.
"Milburn Carrier II" will remain in service through to Feb/March 2017, at which point she'll be put up for sale.

The new cement carrier "Aotearoa Chief" has arrived in NZ. She had her naming ceremony in Auckland and then headed to Whangarei, where she is undergoing "repairs".
With her arrival, does anyone know what the future is for the vessels Golden Bay and Marsden Bay?
-
Hi there, read an article in a shipping mag recently that Golden Bay could be going for scrap
:-[
-
It was reported in October that the Chenan would be going for scrap in January, following her sister Chengtu. However she is due in Auckland and spending a day at the container terminal for "Provisional move for Fergusson Wharf planning". I am wondering if Swire are going to add her to the coastal container trade due to the earthquakes and the shutting down of the rail and road infrastructure in the South Island. Anyone have an insight on this?
-
Swire Shipping are not replacing the Chenan on the TransTasman schedule, but are going down to a one vessel opereation with the Island Chief.
They are also dropping calls at Lyttelton and Nelson.
-
Due to high cargo volumes, the Southern Trader will be doing a voyage to Nuku'alofa and Suva. Her scheduled voyage to Papeete will be taken by the chartered in Messina Strait, which will stop off in Tahiti on her way to Zeebrugge with kiwifruit.
-
The NYK Furano is being replaced by the "Wiking" IMO 9708382 on the NZS/KIX service.

Chenan sailed from Newcastle direct to Lyttelton arriving 26 November berthing at Cashin Quay. She loaded a deck cargo of containers helping out the SOC and sailed 27 November for Auckland. Arriving in the early hours of 30 November, she berthed at Fergusson and discharged, before moving to Bledisloe at 0730 to take up her normal schedule. (For last time as it turns out).

Regular calling Maersk Brani has suffered damage in a collision in the Panama area while on the southbound leg of her Maersk OC1 service between east coast North America and New Zealand / Australia. She has been diverted to Manzanillo Panama where her container cargo was discharged and is now awaiting a survey of her condition. Maersk then re-scheduled Olga Maersk that was on a northbound leg of the same service to terminate at Manzanillo, discharge her onboard cargo for transshipment to their final destinations, and then backload Maersk Brani's cargo for New Zealand and Australia and resume that voyage. There was no information regarding the other party involved in the incident. The Maersk Brani is a veteran of 35 voyages to New Zealand since 2010, 31 on the OC1 service to the USA, with the remainder to Asia early in her career.

The Southern Tiare has major mechanical issues and has cancelled her current voyage to Norfolk Island. Cargo will be carried on Southern Trader due Auckland 2 August, and she will call Norfolk Island on her way to Papeete.
-
Northern Dexterity IMO 9345996 is replacing Guenther Schulte on the WCNA schedule.
-
Anyone know what vessel is replacing "Southern Tiare" for her run to the Chatham Islands. She is under repair in Auckland until at least the end of August, maybe longer.

MDV Caixing is to replace Maersk Jalan on the Northern Star Service.
-
This won't be the name of the vessel. Maersk always use MDV when they don't have the name of a vessel yet. Don't know what the Caixing is all about.
-
APL Denver is to replace Seaspan Loncomilla on the ANZEX Service
-
It now appears that APL Denver will not join the Anzex service, but has been replaced by Spirit of Shanghai IMO 9362401.
-
Another Offen vessel although now an ex to join Asian networks from New Zealand, this time its 5,024 TEU Pamina ex Santa Pamina, PONL Detroit and Maersk Dunedin to replace Sydney Trader. Owned by Greeks for several years, she has been flagged to Marshall Islands registered to the rather curiously named company Dud Shipping Inc - in New Zealand "dud" a common abbreviation for the town of Dunedin so most likely related to the former name at the time the new owners registered and unlikely to be in the other connotation of the word.
-
The first extra vessel on the new Seatrade, CMA CGM, Marfret is the AS Floretta (IMO 9395056)
-

-
The vessel to replace Maersk Jalan has been announced as Maersk Jaipur.
-
Tug Koraki IMO 8868484, that was up for sale, appears to have been purchased by Total Marine Services, who also bought the Ports of Auckland tug Tika. Her funnel is now all black and she is seen in Auckland towing their barges.
-
What has happened to the Chatham Islands trader MV Rangatira? Is she still laid up in Timaru?
-
Still layed up in Timaru.
-
AS Carelia is to be replaced by the recently renamed AS Petronia on the PAD Service. The AS Petronia had completed two voyages as Rio Thompson in 2013/14
-
Buxfavourite IMO 9150212 is to do a round voyage on the PNW WCNA schedule. She is due in Auckland 8 October.
-
The Melanesian Chief is doing a southbound voyage from Singapore before joining the Trans Tasman schedule. The rotation will be Melbourne/Hobart/Sydney/Port Kembla/Newcastle/Auckland/Marsden Point/Tauranga.
-
Tug Pacific Way has towed the large 2017 built dredger GPK from Wellington to Auckland. I don't know what work she has been brought here to do, but she i quite impressive.

The Wellington Strait IMO 9516777 is to replace the ANL Elinga on the Trans Tasman schedule.
-
The Wellington Strait IMO 9516777 is to replace the ANL Elinga on the Trans Tasman schedule.
It appears she will be renamed ANL Elaroo
-
Correct Tony. The Wellington Strait will load in Shanghai and be renamed in Ningbo. She will come south on the Anzexs schedule. The Spirit of Shanghai only did the one round trip on this schedule and a vessel TBN will take over in November.

Any takers..

Any observers anticipate a tonnage increase, in the form of bigger vessels, on Maersk's Southern Star service currently being served by Maersk's "L" class vessels?
-
CMA CGM Pointe des Salines is to replace Harmony N on the PAD Service. She had previously operated on the same service as Mozart
.
Balthasar Schulte is to replace Wiking on the KIX Service.
-
Why are Swire's Trans Tasman vessels doing both an Eastbound and a Westbound call into Marsden Point?
-
ANL Warnambool to replace Seaspan Loncomilla on west coast USA trade
-
It looks like Seaspan Loncomilla will do the Northbound NZS voyage for ANL Warrnambool as she is down to call at Lyttelton, Napier and Tauranga.
-
The Seaspan Loncomilla and the ANL Warranambool are swapping containers in Auckland. The ANL Warranambool will then head for Melbourne on the WCNA service and the Seaspan Loncomilla will head to Lyttelton to start on the NZS service.
-
The demolition of container crane D on Bledisloe Wharf Auckland is to commence on Tuesday 24 October. All vehicles being offloaded from car carriers will need to be parked well away from flying sparks.

Unusual sight in Auckland today, was the arrival of the coastal container vessel "Spirit of Canterbury", and she was FULL coming north from the South Island. No sign of any below water line red painted hull. Can this be a resurgence of coastal shipping? I hope so.... :)
-

-
CMA CGM have changed their schedule for their planned new weekly service but it
-
Strange indeed.
CMA CGM Alabama has been scrapped as Conti Wellington
CMA CGM L'Etoile has been renamed CMA CGM Letoile
Calais Trader is currently trading to Africa and is in Lagos.
CMA CGM Pointe Marin is currently trading as "Songa Antofagasta"
So I'm not sure if they know either.
-
It appears Maersk Brani is to be replaced by Harrier Hunter (ex Cap Harriet) on the OC1 Service
-
New build Polar Ecuador IMO 9786774 is doing one round voyage on the Northern Star schedule for Maersk Jabal, which I presume will be drydocked in Singapore.

I checked the Marfret website and they show Alexander R, Lise R, Kim N, Naissane A and Eliana A
This probably makes a bit more sense as some of the vessels mentioned on the other list no longer exist

Some companies rather than putting TBN when they haven

I think I have seen everything now. There is a container vessel due in Tauranga called :
"MP the Gronk" IMO 9289960. She is ex Juliette Rickmers and Maersk Davao. ;D
-
The replacement for the JPO Vela on the ANZEX Service will be the Galicia D. There was a blank sailing after the JPO Vela was withdrawn and this will be followed by the Galicia D. She did a couple of voyages as Hammonia Galicia
-
Stephen,
There is the MP the Brady ( in Melbourne at present and the former ANL Woomera )
MP the Gronk ( ex Juliette Rickmers)
MP the Edelman ( ex ANL Werribee)
MP the Belichick ( ex unknown yet )
All are named after 2017 Super Bowl winners the New England Patriots
Where Brady is the quarterback, Edelman the wide receiver, Gronkowski the tight end
And Belichick is the coach.
It seems Bertram Rickmers has found some new US investors( with obvious NFL leanings ) through a fund manager called Invesco
Even though he has lost his pet Rickmers
All four investment vehicles are registered in Frankfurt

Capitaine Tasman IMO 9167423 is replacing Capitaine Cook IMO 9359686 on the Fiji schedule. She is due to load in Auckland 2nd February on V85N.
-
There has been some clarification on CMA CGM's PAD schedule
EM Corfu is now listed along with the possible dummy vessels Eliana A, Lise R and Naissane A.
All other questionable vessels previously listed have been taken off the schedule or operated vessels list.

E.R. Los Angeles is to replace Chicago on the KIX Service

Southern Moana IMO 9167435 is heading to drydock in Singapore at the end of voyage 314, at which time she will be returned to her owners. She is to be replaced in the Pacific Island trade by Forum Pacific IMO 9359674, which has been displaced from the Australia to Pacific Island trade. She will due one voyage as Forum Pacific before being renamed Southern Moana at the beginning of V316 in Tauranga.
-
The Foochow IMO 9690901 has arrived in Auckland from Suva and South East Asia. She is discharging steel and containers, so it would appear that she is a fill in vessel for the South East Asia schedule following the sale of the Ngankin. A replacement for the Ngankin has not yet been announced, but the Foochow , as a bulk carrier, would be a little large for this run. :)

Hi all,
90% certain that "Milburn Carrier II"'s thirty-year career on the NZ coast is coming to an end in approximately six weeks.
After spending almost all of 2017 laid up in Nelson, "Buffalo" comes out of the Devonport drydock very shortly and will be arriving in Timaru circa Feb 2. "MC2" has a few more voyages lined up beyond that, but is heading from Lyttelton to Auckland on March 7, according to the latest schedules.
That'll be her first visit to Auckland, and likely her last. When she sails from there, I fully expect a crew supplied by new owners will be on board. Will keep you posted.
She first arrived here on 15 March 1988, and was laid up at Westport for four months while a manning issue was resolved.
Talking of "Westport", now "Fjordvik", she's still fully employed in Scandinavia, having sailed from Aalborg (her Danish home port) to Slite (Sweden) this week. She's currently en route to Slemmestad (Norway).
That other long-time servant of the coast, "Golden Bay", is now employed in the Mediterranean, and after a spell in Turkey, is currently on a voyage from Malta to Albania. Her new owners retained her name.
BTW, I recently carried out a full update of www.ultimatenzsoccer.com/Onehunga/ with more info to come. I'm currently working towards getting details of all ship movements at the Port between 1946 and June 1961, which will leave me with a total of seventy years' worth of movements.
Cheers,
JR
