There are many talents intended to that ship design, that  I guess was somewhat inspired by remote island supply ships seen somewhere in the pacific.   The construction and delivery appeared  quite difficult. One could remember that  before leaving Kraljevica yard the electrical motors were over heating and not delivering the speed. A duck tail was retrofitted.
No reports are available on her final performances. But here is some additional bribes of information. although Ro-ro was mentioned and appears possible it is not clear from what is said.

But for such a complex multitask ship one could reasonably expects many technical compromises and further adjustments.

Hi guys,

Thank you for the information on the BELLA DESGAGNES. I will be in Blanc-Sablon so I will be waiting for it! I hope it doesn't arrive after dark or at least will stay until morning.

Steve :-)

Update (2013-04-11, 7h00)

Not sure if the information is correct but the BELLA DESGAGNES is of the coast of Corner Brook, Newfoundland. Judging from that position I would say that it will take between 10-12 hours to get to Blanc Sablon. That it how long it took me to take the ferry from Corner Brook to Blanc Sablon two weeks ago.

Hi Marcel,

I went this morning to the dock at about 8AM and the ship was not there. If the tracking information is accurate, it will take another 4-5 hours for it to arrive. That is good since I am at work right now so I will be able to go after work. I promiss to post pictures tonight even if I have to use a flash!

Great Steve!
Keep track of her peregrinations.
She is a special ship with many features.
And your, now, Lower-North-Shore communities rely on her keeping her schedules!

Many great photos to do in that area; although ships would be scarce.
Icebergs or rather bergy-bits are of photographic interest!
I once had second hand interest in fisheries there and travelled 40 years ago for boat building support initiatives.
Traditional fishing operations ( fish-traps) are special, and worth documenting.
The long-boats they pilot in the fog through rocky shoals are also special breed.

Thanks Paul,

At first I was discouraged when I thought of the possibility of it arriving in the darkness. It was a bit more challenging but I am kind of happy that it came in the dark because of the dramatic effect it gave.

ps. I am not sure 'you're the man' can be translated. Perhaps... 'toi tu l'as... man!' lol

Although it states that the ship delivery took place in Italy it is not very clear if it was her own crew or a special hired crew for the difficult N-A crossing.
May it be a combination of both?  I would tend to think that in those weather conditions special preventive measures were taken. That in view of ship-icing and in her special configurations.

The ship sailed to Canada under Canadian flag. This means she had all Canadian officers and crew needed to sail the ship. Maybe there were some "supercargoes" , not part of crew, representing some special equipment manufacturers.
