Uploading an inland vessel the ENI is needed, consisting of 8 digits, countries like Netherlands, Belgium, Germany start with 0...., other countries have an other digit like Poland start with 2....
Full list on ENI-structure by country: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ENI_number

Uploading an inland vessel like GEESTEMUNDE eni 05116790
- entering the ENI as 05116790 give no history in the category box.
- entering the ENI as 5116790 give the correct history in the category box.
- entering the ENI as 5116790 then shows the message: complete to 8 digits, so 05116790 is needed
- viewing after upload show the ENI as 5116790 and not 05116790
- editing the ENI in the edit screen with an additional 0 gives back ENI 5116790 and a 0 lonely on the next line

See https://www.shipspotting.com/photos/3629874 as example.

Maybe IT can review this? Thank you.

Shipping News and information / Swedish website FAKTAOMFARTYG closed
« on: March 05, 2023, 08:33:19 AM »
The Swedish website FAKTAOMFARTYG, run by Micke Asklander,  is taken off the internet due to health problems.
The website contained very detailed information on and photos of passenger ships, ferries, cruise ships and ro/ro's worldwide and Swedish merchant vessels.
Once by the former webmaster Ken Smith declared as "the best reference in the business".
Although in the Swedish language, google-translate did give all the information needed.
Thank you, Micke for all the work and information given!

Shipspotting at Terneuzen / Netherlands now rather difficult because of construction of a new large lock.
The popular area "Kopje van Kanada" just west of the locks is now closed and sealed off. It will probably never return in the present form because part of it will be removed for a new, wider entrance to new sealock.
The road towards "Kopje van Kanada" is closed for all traffic, including pedestrians, also strictly no parking along the dike.
However a bit more west a new concrete stairs over the dike is constructed with a small parking area for six cars.
Also west of the small area strictly no parking: fines up to 100 Euros. See the first attached JPG-file.

I have found a nice site for shipspotting east of Terneuzen between the town quarter Othene and the hamlet Griete, see the second attached JPG-file.
Free parking but again high stairs over the dike, but a bench to sit on and the vessels passing by much closer and a better position regarding the sun.
Disadvantage is however that no longer the vessels to and coming from Terneuzen en Ghent industrial areas can be seen passing near the locks.

Help and Advice / Free register on internet for inland vessels?
« on: August 08, 2019, 12:54:46 PM »
Why is there no free to use register about (European) inland vessels to be found on the internet. Compared to sea going vessels with Equasis etc, the inland section is very difficult to find.
There is the register of Dutch "De Binnenvaart", but that is maintained by volunteers that only register information that other volunteers provide.
There is the IVR register, but although the Internationale Vereniging Rijnschepenregister is semi-govermental, it is closed for non-members.
In detail I am looking for the owner of the river cruiseship DE AMSTERDAM, eni 05113920, ex LALE ANDERSEN, homeport Oberwesel in Germany.
So far I only found one company at Oberwesel: Aquatel Reederei (mr Klaus Sahr), but their fleet is nowhere mentioned.
Anyone any info? Thanks, Pieter Inpyn

Shipping News and information / cruise terminal at Hull ?
« on: February 17, 2017, 09:26:09 AM »
Has anyone knowledge about cruise ships leaving from Hull? Does Hull have a cruise terminal or do companies use the P&O ferry building for the check-in? Where are the cruise ships, such as MARCO POLO of CMV moored: on the river or in a dock and which one? Any info most welcome as I arrive at Hull by the P&O ferry by foot and can not find detailed information about the whereabouts of a cruise terminal or the quay used by the cruise ships.

The cruise ship STARSHIP ROYALE of Premier Cruises (former FEDERICO C of Costa) is said to be sunk in Panama waters during bad weather and all crew savely taken off. However found enclosed picture on the internet with the caption "cruise ship scrapped at Alang". For me she looks very much like the STARSHIP ROYALE. What is the name of the ship in the picture?

« on: December 24, 2016, 08:03:11 AM »
What happened to the Canadian PACIFICAT catamarans Pacificat Discovery, Voyager and Explorer? Pictures on this and other websites show them as laid-up at Abu Dhabi in 2004. But are they still there or scrapped? Their AIS is not functioning any more.

Shipping News and information / ADONIA - IMO 9210220 at Cuba
« on: May 02, 2016, 04:55:33 PM »
Dutch newspapers report that the cruise ship ADONIA - IMO 9210220 visited Cuba. Now ADONIA is in my opinion owned by P&O but seems to be chartered out as an AMERICAN vessel. First one to visit Cuba since 1978. See the picture in the colours of Fathom? No picture in this livery so far on this website?
