Shipping News and information / Re: PONL / Maersk Ships to scrap.

With the large number of new containerships entering the market during the next few years there must be an increase in the number of oldies going for scrap. Some will survive a little longer by displacing smaller ships on some routes.

Can anyone confirm which yard the Taranaki and Nina have gone to.

 :-)

Yet another version of the current PONL livery was seen at Lyttelton this afternoon.

P&O Nedlloyd Agulhas sailed at 1330 with a plain blue funnel but still had P&O Nedlloyd down her hull.

cheers

I presume that this is the Blue Star Reederei Shipmanagement Company renamed Nedlloyd ship Management. It still seems strange that Nedlloyd will be involved at this level.

Hi,
Sorry about no replies to these messages but working to many hours.Still seems odd that they would keep the Nedlloyd part of the name as Nedlloyd continue to operate as a seperate company in Europe with their inland barges and transport logistics companies.

regards
Alan

Hi,
Out here in New Zealand we understand that P&O Nedlloyd will be dropped from the name and replaced by Maersk.I dont understand why they would rename P&O Nedlloyd Barentsz by dropping the P&O Nedlloyd only.Maybe the renaming was still being done at the time of spotting and she is now Maersk Barentsz.I have an interest in P&O Nedlloyd and would welcome any news on change of names or liverey. There are a number of changes to services from here and ships are often only making a couple of viyages before being replaced by others.

Alan :-)
