Seeing same problem, suprised there's been no other messages re this situation. A note from site would be appreciated, are we looking at another major outage? Many thanks, Tony

It seems that for now the only way to see new photos are too open them in full screen.

Thank you Geir "It seems that for now the only way to see new photos are too open them in full screen."

That works for me. And from there  can open Original size.  And I can edit the Description

When I'm searching for a special ship by using the "search button", I also can see the pics...
Apart from that: the same problem.

Hi

Unable to view My Photos. When I click on a ship name in my list, I get the description; but, only an icon symbol where there should be a photo of the ship.
Is this perhaps a malfunctioning of the bookmark procedure? ???
Just guessing.  :P

At a guess the vessel details and the photographs are stored separately on the site's server, with a link between them. The link will somehow have become corrupted, and is not being made. Same thing can happen on your own PC, if you put in a link from one file to another, then rename one of the files, the link won't work. I suspect someone has been doing some work on the site, and accidentially broken the link. It's probably a quick fix once someone looks at it.

Same problem here on the West coast, only full screen pix are visible. Patrick, I really hope you have your pix saved on your computer or other photo hosting websites such as photobucket.com. I saved mine few months ago, just in case.
Cheers...

Within my account I can see the thumbnails, but when I try to open one I see no photo just the vessel details.
When I try a Ship Photo Search I get no photo just a list of photographers against the ship's name.

It seems to me, the problem has been observed and reported to the technical person responsible for investigating and/or fixing it.
So what value to the whole thing is added by more and more people adding their complaints?
None! Just let the man get on with it and I am sure all will be well when he finds the root cause.
And, if I was he, I would be taking my weekend time off with family etc seriously and would begin looking at it tomorrow. For him, it is work.

@Kelvin Davies
The man at work could have given a short message to all that he is going to fix the problem.

Kelvin is absolutely right, I guess most people should realise that it is not their divine right that the site is always functioning as intended. That the reaction from IT is slow is not uncommon, but please remember that this is a free site where you do not have to pay a penny to get access to a lot of high res photographs. I am sure the problem will be solved eventually, but may be not immediately. Until that time, go out and shoot ships.... :)

But why is everyone uploading now, why not wait till' its ok again, or am i missing a point, as usual?

@pieter melissen

Until that time, go out and shoot ships.... and upload the photos to Marine Traffic or Fleetmon.

In all fairness to the IT man and I should know, I had almost four years of dealing with him so am well aware of the difficulties in communication, this happened on a SUNDAY and he does have a Family and life beyond this Website.

I know it is frustrating when these things happen but I am confident it will shortly be sorted out and all back to normal.

Regards
Ken

Hi all,

Sorry for the lack of information. We've been working on getting the site properly visible again.

It should all work fine now. We removed a faulty server. Nothing old is lost, but can't speak for the last 24 hours in case uploads were timing out. The site may appear a bit slower as we're replacing this.

Regards,
Henrik

Ken, yes, not sure why! There's a saying that the further away the sysadmin is - the more likely a system is to go down.

Can add that the long time it took to solve was that the system behaved like it was the target of a heavy brute force attack, which wasn't the case.

Thankyou for your efforts in getting the photo's back up running.

The only problem I'm having is with the "View Summary Page For This Vessell". Maybe it's my computer but I'm not getting any photo's up at all.

It has been like that for most of the Day and Henrik has indicated the site could be slow for a while but all will soon be back to normal, unfortunately these things do happen from time to time but I think if we are honest the site runs pretty well most of the time.

Ken
