Title: Zhen Hua beached in Rotterdam
Post by: Sjoerd Reverda on February 02, 2008, 10:12:25 AM
Heard this news from my neighbour around 5 in the morning. Will take of right away, to take some pictures as it is just 4 km's from my home. I heard one of our dunes was also broken here (again). Been a pretty windy night, heavy storms. Apparently 8 metre waves and Beaufort 10.

Pictures and report follow soon.

Here's a bunch of pictures at FLICKR (http://www.flickr.com/search/?q=zhen+hua&s=rec) too.

Not looking good. Let's hope they get her off in one piece.

Best regards

Oh... my God!, What happened?
She was here, in Las Palmas, on January 22 and I think
it is a pity what happened because not every day looks something like this. I hope that this can be resolved.
Best Regards.I hope that this can be resolved.

Been there again today at the tug attempt. Apparently the propeller is properly dug into the bottom. Some snapped cables on the tugs did the rest. She has been moved a few meters but nothing much. Pictures of today follow on my Flickr soon. Might be going to sea tomorrow on one of the tugs, would be awesome.

Another try tomorrow, after midnight, on Zhen Hua 10 with more tugs with more HP. She draw a big audience today but hardly moved.
Nice to wait for me to take a shot of her:

looks like a dangerous list to me. What if more horse power is pulling, can she fall over?http://www.shipspotting.com/modules/myalbum/photo.php?lid=577628&cid=39 (http://www.shipspotting.com/modules/myalbum/photo.php?lid=577628&cid=39)

Tonights attemp to free ZHEN HUA 10 failed again.
Smit now is waiting on a tug to arrive from Gemany with as much HP as the 3 earlier used tugs together. On monday afternoon a new attempt will be done at high tide.

As to the question of Lott on falling over, I have the same concern looking at the weight in top (clickTOP heavy? (http://www.shipspotting.com/modules/myalbum/photo.php?lid=577628&cid=39) click) and according to the fact that they pumped out the ballest to refloat her.
Let's hope they know what they are doing

Do you know which tug this will be? I was wondering why they only use these "small" harbour tugs and not a bigger seagoing one. Perhaps they are waiting for the Oceanic 8-)

Hope you guys will inform all others about the next try!

Title: She's free
Post by: Fred Vloo on February 05, 2008, 07:00:10 AM
She's free and back to where she was, waiting to enter the harbor. At 02:00 it took 4 tugs to free her. According to AIS she's already in the Yangtzeharbor.

I was there to witness it, but my tripod was destroyed in a car crash yesterday morning. The pictures I tried to take were all failed. Pity. Ah well, she is free without damaging our beaches too much.
