Anybody know anything more on Classic International and their fleet
-
Last update I can find from 24th October 2012 at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Classic_International_Cruises. Basically four under arrest for non payment of bills and Funchal laid up. However website still taking bookings.
Early October details for each ship at http://www.latecruisenews.com/tag/classic-international-cruises/

I recommend reading the following article, dating back from late Sept. It is pretty accurate and very comprehensive.
http://maritimematters.com/2012/09/classic-international-cruises-faces-uncertain-future/
To the best of my knowledge, nothing appears to have changed over the last 4 weeks.
What I can tell you from factual evidence, is that work inside Funchal has been practically halted, and what has been done so far by the Contractor in terms of rennovation is minimal. From short distance, and from the way the ship's interior looks like, she appears to be ready for the scapyard...
Best regards,
Jose

Hope to receive some good news

According to Australian newspapers yesterday, Australian CIC is to replace the ATHENS with the cruise ship DELPHIN this summer. They were not sure whether the ATHENA would leave Europe in time.
-
Hope to see them sending all their active ships including athena to cobh

As far as I know, the ARION is 'arrested' because it is open proceedings against the Classic International Cruises before the Commercial Court for a debt of fuel and who knows what else. I think it's bound in port of Bar.
Several weeks ago he was bound seven days in the port of Kotor, then move it into the Bar.
-
suprising wonder why it was decided to move her to Bar
-
I really do not know why.
-
A few days ago she was anchored in the port of Kotor, and then when began to sail larger cruisers had to be removed, and perhaps because the ship moved to Bar.
-
First she was bound at the Port of Kotor, and Luka Zelenika and then moved to the Bar.
Elsewhere, wrote on the site www.vijesti.me.
(From Podgorica Commercial Court has not made clear who was behind the request to stop the ship "Arion" in Montenegro.
After the Portuguese cruise ship "Arion", already seven days in Montenegro under seizure by the decision of the Commercial Court in Podgorica, the past weekend anchor off Orahovac transferred to berth Zelenika commander disembarked from the ship and traveled, while the rest of about 120 crew members are still on board, "Vijesti".
Planted now for not missing anything because the ship was provided with food, water, fuel and all other necessary supplies, a company in Lisbon and their agent in Montenegro are in constant contact to "Arion" and his crew were well cared for as the whole court tangles are resolved.

From the Podgorica Commercial Court has not made clear who was behind the request to stop the ship "Arion" in Montenegro. Neither the ship nor the entire company CIC, according to the agent, as well as the Minister of Maritime Dr. Andrija Lompar, have no outstanding obligations to any business partner in Montenegro.
Referring to developments in the global shipping market stress that the financial problems the company CIC began several months ago, shortly after he died in May this year, its founder and owner, the Greek maritime entrepreneur George Potamianos.
Family business then as head of the company taken over by his sons and Alexandros Emilios but im aggravating factor in running a business is the fact that the entire fleet of company CIC very old because all five of their cruisers were built in the period between the 1948th and 1965. when it was built youngest of them - just in Montenegro confiscated "Arion".)
Previously on 17 September in Kotor, ordered by the Commercial Court in Podgorica, seized the ship "Arion" capacity of 330 passengers, which was a few days ago, from the port Zelenika where he was, he was transferred to the Port of Bar, where he was last weekend.

-
Do they still have the Delphin
-
When reading a forum on Cruise Talk i came across a statement saying "There are various French news reports which say the o/s fuel bills are around
-
HI!crazyboutships, No. The DELPHIN charter fell through because she also could not get to Australia before the New Year.
-
Any hope for saving CIC
-
I doubt it very much.
The Australian company is already in the hands of the Insolvency Administrators (by voluntary decision):

CIC page on Facebook reports the same - date is the same (31st Oct. 2012):

No further news available. Status should still be: 4 ships arrested (2 in France, 1 in Greece and 1 in Montenegro), and Funchal still undergoing (?) rennovation work in Lisbon at a snail pace.
Best regards,
Jose
