Title: Laust Maersk
Post by: MO Roy on June 30, 2020, 04:28:57 PM
Can anybody advise about the IMO-number of the first Laust Maersk of 1957/1958, Built Odense with yard number 141.
She had a collision with Alcoa Pioneer in 1961 and sank as a consequence.
Thanks in advance.
Cheers,
Roy

Hoi Henk,
Dank je wel / Thanks for your swift reaction.
She was the only Laust without IMO in my list.
Cheers,
Roy

I believe this is Miramar (Rob Haworth) ID/filing number not IMO you have been given. Your original lack of a number is correct. IMO not in existence 1957
Other members may correct me but I believe LLoyds introduced 6 figure code number in 1963 and then modified to 7 figures in 1969. The latter numbers were adopted by IMO in 1987.

Yes, that's right Chas. This is a Miramar made-up data reference number (it's Rodger H, by the way).  So, yes, this ship should not show an IMO number.

Thank you Davidships and apologies to Rodger.I should have known better as I did get replies to my Q's to him a few years ago. Rod or Rob,I'll fall back on the age excuse.

Her last registration number in Lloyds Register was 19409. In fact her alphabetic following number in the 1961/1962 registration.

Thanks Gents,
In that case I will again remove the number.
Don't fancy very much these fake IMO-numbers.
Cheers,
Roy

On the other hand there is no harm in keeping the Miramar number with the ship for future reference. It will not guide you to any other ship.
