I have been covering the Story with daily updates over at https://blog.halifaxshippingnews.ca/2018/08/akademik-ioffe-runs-aground.html

it sounds like the damage is minor - cracked welds, and dents.

yep, shes still in halifax, and work appears to be ongoing.
the former greek owners issued a release that the sale had closed before she was renamed and sailed for canada, so even if we changed our minds, she's not likely returnable.

im thinking the greek news article fell for a reported an april fools joke.

French frigate La Fayette and Amphibious Assault ship Mistral are in Halifax until tomorrow. They will sail for Gaspe with the 5th Mechanize brigade and practice amphibious landings.

I was fortunate enough to get a grand tour of the Articulated tug and barge Victorious w/ John J Carrick. I have posted some photos on the blog. I was luckey enough to get to see the machinery spaces, though I wish I took more photos.

i was told container falls happen once every 200000 moves.
that said the other terminal in halifax had a container drop and roll a truck. Apparently one of the twistlocks failed.

Shipping News and information / Canadian Ice breaking Issues
« on: March 19, 2014, 12:46:00 PM »
Seems Canadian ship owners are unhappy with the Icebreaking services this year. In fairness to the Coast Guard, The ICE Service does say this is the worst year in 25 years for ice.
http://blog.halifaxshippingnews.ca/2014/03/ice-causing-delays.html

That said, it doesn't help that the largest icebreaker in the fleet may have spent its fuel budget for the year, and is laid up to the end of the fiscal year march 31.

Good eye Steve!
I'd say those scrapes are probably from a lock- they look similar to what is seen on the seaway max bunkers that pull in to halifax. The rest of the slices seem to be the result of the tug impact
