The bunker tanker Awanuia has not worked since late 2020, and is still laid up at Captain Cook Wharf Auckland.
The bunker tanker Anatoma IMO 9557161 has arrived from Australia, and has been sailing in and out of Tauranga. She has now berthed in Auckland and is to be renamed "Korimako".
Does this mean she is replacing Awanuia, or is Tauranga getting their own bunker tanker?

The Awanuia looks to be back in service with her first bunkering job on Sunday- Nord Yilan

Shipping News and information / Re: The Return of Pullmantur

I would assume it was from an article like this one:

https://www.cruisecritic.com/news/5762/

It should also be noted that it says Pullmantur are not bankrupt but actually filed for creditor protection. From my experience this just means all unsecured debt is written off to save the company from going bankrupt.

Sending vessels to the scrapyards is one thing, but if Carnival is going to waste a lot of money during the pandemic transferring cruise ships from Princess to P&O Australia, I can't support them anymore. I can't, especially when they waste money during these times. Why not wait until after the pandemic, they're too impatient. I rather see them get scrapped than transfered during the pandemic. I'm sorry, but it's tough for me.

I'm sure Carnival will be devastated you won't support them anymore. They were most likely relying on you sailing with them to keep them from going into liquidation. People with more brains than most of us will have looked at the market and where it will be in a year or so's time and made an informed decision in transferring these vessels. It should be looked at as a positive sign that they can see an end to this at some stage and are planning their next move which is the transfer.

What I think is more interesting in the above link is the Sine Maersk being scrapped next to these old cruise liners. would be good to have more shots of that than of these boring people movers

If you go to the Capital Shipmanagement website you can download a layout plan of the tanker in question. it will show you that these show the separation between the forepeak tank and No.1 ballast tank (stbd).

Can anyone confirm if the Athens Glory (6492TEU's) is the biggest containership to call in Auckland in capacity & length to date?

I think you need to accept that these ships are now done for and there is no way to salvage them for future service.

As has been said earlier even if there was a facility at Beruit to accomodate a ship there are plenty of ships laid up around the world that would better suit this than a few that are on a beach.

These oldies are gone and there is nothing that can be done about that now.

Matuku has been anchored in Tasman Bay since 11 July with no further movements listed for any port.

The Matuku is getting a Ballast Water Management system installed. They anchor in Tasman Bay to hide from the weather

Noordam is having a short lay up in Tauranga with crew only onboard. The original idea was for her to stay in Tauranga until she could fit into a new schedule but with this new cruise ban that happened I'm not sure what she'll do. I would imagine it very pleasant onboard there at the moment without all the passengers. Crew are allowed to go ashore whenever they want.

The Atlantic Bridge is a lot smaller compared to the other ships on this route. Maybe she is trading in another name and is yet to be renamed.

A lot of people use a guy by the name of Geok to get out to the anchorages to photograph ships. He knows the ropes and can get you really close to ships anchored in the Eastern and Western anchorages. He has a small boat he charters out at an hourly rate. He will take direction and will take you to any specific ship you want to photograph.

He's well worth the money.
