Site related news, functions and modules / Re: Is there a site problem?
« on: December 14, 2018, 07:33:50 PM »
I have sent four emails, through the contact page, asking how I can totally delete my account and I've never had a reply. Perhaps I just delete all my photographs and never log in again?

Incidentally, several sites are showing as 'not secure' because they are still using http: on their website address and not the secure https: This is just another way servers are trying to obtain more money from people who create websites I am told.

When I clear my computer memory, and cache, at the end of each month and have to log on again to ShipSpotting I always get 'this site is not secure'. As a matter of interest it always happens on a certain trawler site, too!

Help and Advice / Re: Full Screen

John - I have had lengthy discussions with Apple Support, yesterday and today, and they are continuing to look into this issue which is also effecting other websites I understand. I must have been on the phone for at least three hours in total with Apple getting into my machine and trying various options and I'm pleased to say that the problem on my side has been rectified.  :)

I have since posted my query on Apple Communities to try to resolve this slight problem.  I will keep you posted as to any outcome.

John Grace: I'm using 10.12.4 and can't understand why I am seeing a cropped photo version.

I'll check with other Safari users to see what they say - or perhaps post a question on Apple Support Communities.

Thanks Pieter. I will see what other people say so I will be patient.

However, I have just checked using Google Chrome and all appears to be fine.

My usual browser is Safari on an iMac.

Help and Advice / Full Screen

Is anyone having problems when trying to view a photograph on full screen?

When I click on 'full screen' the image looks squashed. This has just started to happen over the last week.

Help and Advice / Re: MarineTraffic.com
« on: March 24, 2017, 09:21:30 AM »
I use Marine Traffic for AIS information and do not have any problems with it whatsoever. I did, until recently, use Vessel Finder but their AIS has had problems of late and is not showing ships at berth - so that's why I switched to Marine Traffic and it does suit my needs.

I have reported the AIS error to Vessel Finder and they have noted my comments but, as I write, the error is still there.

Thankfully, Marine Traffic gives me what I require and I'm also using their free service - first class!

Help and Advice / Re: Stolen photos on Instagram
« on: December 25, 2016, 05:18:15 PM »
As person who does websites, and photography, believe me I know what it's like to have photographs stolen. Despite placing a watermark on all my images, they will still get taken.

However, you might like to see this from DACS:

Help and Advice / Theft
« on: April 08, 2016, 08:45:10 AM »
It has been brought to my attention that at least two of my photographs have been stolen from Ship Spotting and placed on the Vessel Finder website.

The person who stole them credited himself as being the photographer. Needless to say I have reported the incident to Vessel Finder who have since removed them.

I have since done a random check on the photo-stream of the 'thief' and noticed at least two others have been stolen from Ship Spotting. I have, of course, sent private messages to the Ship Spotting members who are involved.

Yes sorry, I meant South Gare - not the North Gare as that's Hartlepool side - but you will get some good shots from there if you have a decent lens!  :)

The North Gare pier is an excellent position - enabling you to see ships arriving and sailing from the River tees.

It might be worth reminding someone up in management that every user who uses adblock = lost revenue.

How true. As soon as I logged into Ship Spotting my AdBockPlus blocked six pop-ups and certainly lost revenue.
