My first user name was 'Shipimages', because that was the name of my old website before the host went bust and I gave up the domain name, and then - after this forum did an upgrade everyone's real names appeared - I reverted to using my given name.

However, I really dislike my given name and would like to go back to using an alias. I know it's possible to change one's user name in the profile settings but I am not sure if it's really the done thing! Would it be ok to change it again? I don't want to change it and get a PM asking who the heck I am.

The 'Lovers of the Ocean Liners' page is still there. It's a closed group, closed presumably so no outsiders can see their stolen photos. 

Disabling right click does deter people a bit although, as you say, a determined thief will just get round it by taking a screen shot or viewing the source (I think there are keyboard short cuts to do that if eight click is disabled).

Pretty much all modern bridge cameras (super zooms) and DSLRs - particularly DSLRs - will take good quality photos and video. What's your budget? Do you want a DSLR (takes interchangeable lenses)? Canon and Nikon are probably the best-known makes, with cameras starting at two or three hundred

Hi David, the closest railway station is Southampton Central and from there you can get a free bus down to Town Quay, which is a decent vantage point (although a fence on the southern end makes it difficult to photograph ships coming in). From Town Quay you can get a ferry across to Hythe which gives a good opportunity for photographing anything in berths 38, 39 and 40 plus any ships in the Ocean Cruise terminal. Hythe Marina, the pier and Shore Road are good vantage points for stuff leaving and entering the docks, respectively, these are best after late morning. Back on the Southampton side, Mayflower Park is also a good spot and if there is a cruise ship in berth 101 then you'll get great shots, especially if they've put her in port side to, so the bow is facing you.

If you have time and the weather's good, then the Red Funnel vehicle ferry to East Cowes (crossing time of 55 minutes each way, foot passenger day return is

Good shots, Kelvin. The list was evident.
Ships do tend to list when rounding the Brambles into and out of Southampton Water, which looks nice and dramatic from Cowes, but this was obvious even without taking that into account.

Morning Faith.
I just watched her go by Calshot.  Seemed OK except for the horrible list to port!
Oh dear!

I was at Cowes watching her come in, she sounded ok, I certainly couldn't hear any rattling noises but, yes, she is listing.
She really is the most beautiful ship, it would seem a shame to scrap her but she'll just be following a well-trodden path...

A friend who lives over in Southampton watched her sail this evening, and said there was a loud rattling noise coming from the ship. That doesn't sound good.

Episode 3 got rescheduled for a week later because BBC South decided to show a programme about the snow instead.
One of the episodes did show the WAFIs being told to get out of the way of incoming ships but, as the chap driving the harbour master launch said, they think he's the bad guy! The yachts seem oblivious to the big ships a lot of the time.
