Here's an article on the BBC website about what's possibly next for the ship; scroll down and there's a piece on hot-tapping. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-16573312

Same thing happened to me at first. You have to scroll down and look at the available videos. They are all in Norwegian or some other language I cannot understand but the videos are good! 8)

According to German news today, Pierluigi Foschi, CEO of Costa Crociere, announced in a Senate hearing that Costa Crociere will write the ship off and that the insurance company is also prepared to declare Costa Concordia a total loss.

Other sources claim the removal of the wreck could take as long as 12 months...

Costa announced yesterday that they have asked 10 salvage companies to submit plans and offers to remove the hull of Costa Concordia. Plans should be submitted by the end of February, then a decision on a company has to be made by the end of march. Removal process could well take a year.

Nobody is thinking to bring the ship back into service.

I like it!!  Actually, once they stabilized the ship in place, they could make a "floating restaurant" out of it... build a bridge across to one of the decks, put in stairs to the portion of one of the restaurants which is still above water.  They could rotate the tables so they were level, then have the servers running around in small canoes to serve the tables!

It would be quite the rage, methinks!!

they should leave her there and have Capt. Schettino serve his prison sentence aboard her, just as she is.
