Hi,

Thanks for this informations.
Do you know if there is any website where it's possible to see the vessels in scrapping yards? I just want to see the EASTERN LIGHT (BZ) IMO 7920534 - former name SEAFRANCE RENOIR and the WESTERN LIGHT (BZ) IMO 7806099 - former name SEAFRANCE CEZANNE in scrapping yards at Alang. I have already found one picture of the last one at Alang.

Regards from France,

Ronan

Another one to add to the list is the 1995- built VLCC "Atlantic Liberty", which has the honour of being the first truly double hull (i.e. not converted) VLCC sold for demolition. She's been sold by MOL, Japan, for eventual recycling by an Alang "green" shipbreaker. It's caused a bit of a stir in the market as MOL could have got a slight premium over scrap value by selling for further trading. However, the tanker market is very depressed and it's not the Japanese way to sell for further trading in such circumstances.

Hello Phil

Thanks for your mail, really the economy including all the bussines areas is bad and really turning into madnes, I would like to knows who or whom are the bright brains which are causing such a market chaos.

In Europe the greeks and I would not be surprised if the spanish would be also involved in some strange maneouvres with the Euro in order to be approved and to remain in the European Commission.

Kind Regards

Tomi.

Hi,

according to the most recent rumors P&O Ferries' Norcape will also go to the beaches in Turkey after her incident in Troon. Apparently the damage is too great and repairs are no longer economical. No official announcement from P&O though

Norcape's a shame - used to be a regular site on the Humber.

Last I remember Ruhr N. was also being prepared to be scrapped, or she's doing her last voyage right now, somebody has any extra info on this ship?

Former Royal Australian Navy Ships Kanimbla and Manoora although their fates are not yet decided they will likely end up at the breakers.  These are the 2 rust buckets the Australian Government brought of the US Navy.  I think they will be considered too big for Dive wrecks on Australia's busy east coast.

She was known on the Thames as "Smokey Joe", never without smoke from her funnel.

Regards
Ken

Also known on the Humber as the same Ken!  ;D

Happen to have any photos of her? Also, know how long her sister (Alster N.) will continue sailing?

Thanks.

There are pictures on the site of the "Ruhr N" taken on her final call at Rotterdam. However, no actual scrapping pictures.

Brgds,
Robert.
