ARAGONITE
« on: December 10, 2011, 09:37:11 PM »
Does anyone have any information/pictures of the ICI cargo ship "ARAGONITE".  In 1982 she was chartered to fill in for the Royal Mail Ship "ST. HELENA" voyaging between Cape Town, St. Helena Island and Ascension Island.  I sailed to Cape Town on her mid 1982, one of the other 11 passengers was a surgeon Douglas Quantrill who served in the Island's hosital, turned out to be a survivor of the torpedoed "CITY OF CAIRO"  www.sscityofcairo.co.uk
The voyage took a week, two days longer than normal due to engine problems and we ran out of food as well, well food was severely rationed so that we all had something to eat.

Regards
Bruce
