Yes, it was confirmed on the INTRADOP site that the efforts to salvage the CP VALOUR were abandonned:

dmsywg:
I have some cargo on board the CP Valour and on the 17th Jan we got the final official notice that our cargo had been abandonded as well as the vessel..

Pedro Baptista:
Here's a link to a portuguese university with some news about the "CP Valour case"... only in portuguese:
http://www.horta.uac.pt/projectos/cp_valour/

yesterday, February 22nd, they took a scooba in the near area and there are some interesting high resolution pics...

Good news is that wildlife is returning to the spot.

Ship's Cat:
What's the latest about this ship? Is she still in one piece or has she started to break up? A shame for the ship, but it could have been worse for the wildlife.

Pedro Baptista:
Hello.

There are no fresh news about her here in Portugal. The media love headlines, but soon they get tired...

About a month ago, I send a mail to the portuguese Navy and I didn't get much. However, a portuguse newspaper published a small article about her, last July 9th.

There, it says that the south african and netherlanders [sorry the eventually wrong word... :-P] are still unsure about her destiny: only in August they'll be sure if she'll be dismantle in loco or towed to Lisbon, where she will also be dismantle... The probabilities, they say, are about 50/50 %. They also say that, most of all, the Eco-Sistem comes first than the ship... Anyway, this is the end-of-line to her...

For those who understand portuguese, here's the link.

For now, this is all I can tell you. ;-)

Best regards to all! :-D
