Hi Dean, I was going to send you a message to see if you have seen the pictures of the Stena Transporter.
She is brand new. And on her delivery voyage. She is one of the replacements for the Stena Trader on the Hook - Killingholme route. Sent via Cape Town to avoid the pirates and the troubles in Egypt.
What do you think of her?

Karl

Hi Karl,

Thank-you for the information. She looks to be a very nice looking ship and looks very familar to the Trader and Traveller.

The former Stena Trader (Now Blue Puttees) arrived here today.

One of the plans in mind was to put an extra deck on the Trader / Traveller. After we ordered the new ships with the extra deck, the first two were going on the Harwich - Europoort run. But all that was changed by the Canadians.

The extra deck, was this for capacity? Did the large open deck pose problems during the winter months?

She was built in South Korea, by Samsung.

The extra deck would have been built for extra capacity.

As these are new ships, we don't know yet how they handle in bad weather. No doubt, we'll soon find out.
