TISSA-class built in Hungary for USSR?
« on: February 04, 2011, 06:56:16 AM »
Hello,

I am looking for information about a serie a river/sea cargo vessels, built in Hungary in the 1950's for the USSR, named the TISSA-class.
One of them is SEVERKA, built 1957.
What is the name of the yard?
What are the other vessels in this class?
Any information is much appreciated.

Regards, Pieter Inpyn

Dear Peter, you can find details on the ship named Severka, built in 1957, at the Ghergiu Dej yard, Budapest here
http://www.hajoregiszter.hu/index.php?lang=en&ship=2503
The class name is not Tissa (or I presume, correctly Tisza), but I hope, you searched this one.
Best regards,
Hajovad

Hi Pieter, this type ships was built for the USSR over a hundred - 92 or 93 for commercial flot and around 15 for the navy (as experimental ships, survey ships, naval cargo ships and cable ships). They were built since 1944 (Desna) until 1961 (Belbek) in Hungary in Budapest (Ganz & Co., later Gheorghiu Dej Shipyard).
