SPIRIT OF BRITAIN
« on: February 04, 2011, 01:34:22 PM »
Hi

I was thinking of trying to catch the new P&O ferry SPIRIT OF BRITAIN this weekend but have not seen her on AIS lately on the English Channel. Does anyone know her whereabouts?

Regards

Bob

Hi Bob,

The Spirit of Britain is currently in the Down's anchorage off the Kentish town of Deal.

Her sailings have been cancelled today and tomorrow due to "technical problems". There is talk on the forum that she limped into Dover on one shaft this morning, however I can't confirm this.

Best wishes

Ray

Morning Bob,  AIS live at this time showing Spirit of Britain moving at 6.5k through the Downs showing destination Margate Roads. Obviously a bit too lumpy where she was, bit sheltered round the corner !!!  Wonder really what's wrong ?? Regards, jw.. ??? ??? ???

She's now heading for Zeebrugge, must be something that can't be fixed easily.

Hi Bob,

I am wondering if she is going for an underwater inspection by divers?

I know TEF vessels and the Norman Spirit have been to Zeebrugge for underwater inspections before.

All the best

Ray

Spirit of Britain is currently working normally but there is talk of her having to be returned to the builders due to excessive vibrations so check with P&O before booking if you want to go on her

Hi,  I travelled on Spirit of Britain ex Calis 1530hrs 14th March.  A fantastic ship but I commented to my friends that for a new build she did vibrate some what.  A pleasent but foggy crossing.
