1 Million Photos
« on: November 08, 2010, 12:01:20 AM »
We have reached today the mark of 1 million ship photos.
Congratulations to all the team involved in maintaining the site, from admins to photographers.

We are working hard to keep this site as the most important ship enthusiast hub on the internet. More features will be added in the next months - we are always looking for suggestions.

Again congratulations to all involved and thanks again for your support.

About a week ago we had abt. 1 009 400 fotos counted, 2 days ago we had 1 007 500 fotos, today we have only 1 006 947 fotos.
What does it mean? More and more members delete their fotos and quit their account?

Hello Jürgen

I think, it is hard to say, what the reason is. Of course you could guess and guess, and still hard to find out, as long you have no evidence  ;D

Of course everyone can decide themselfes, whether deleting their account, and for example - starting an own website, with own designs and own preferences of uploaded photos and documenting about shipspotting as well. Which is of course, a good thing, because everyone must find an own way to get happy. I would not worry about it.

On the other side, it may of course be, that photoadmins have been doing their job, and that some unappropiate photos got deleted, to keep the quality of the website up.
Which leads back to your first assumption, can of course result in some people, going their own way, and get happy with their own website.

OK, is just what I think, and if you think, that there is a technical problem, you may of course contact webmaster. It was not a good time, when during some work on the server, accidentally many photos got lost !!!

So, thanks for bringing this to attention.

Greetings,

Cornelia

Hi Jürgen,

it is also possible that the admin deleted photos because the were not equal with the rules. From my account they deleted about 10 photos which exsists than 2008 in shipspotting. No idea why it is done now.

Hi All,

One member that i know is deleting all his picture.because he don't like the new website
He had 12,000 pictures.
Not because of the deletions dicussion.

Since I cannot find any photo of HansE today, must be him.
Really sad to hear.

I can't blame him, I have the same feelings about the site. The site became cold and unpersonnal and I don't have that WE feeling with this site anymore.

Cheers
Fred
