SNMCMG2 visit to Portsmouth -- NOW London
« on: April 15, 2010, 05:03:51 PM »
NATO's Standing Naval MCM Group 2 (SNMCMG2) has been shown (on & off) on Seawaves as visiting Portsmouth in April 2010. Does anyone know the dates when these vessels will be in port?

Sounds interesting Bob, can't imagine where they'll berth though. Will keep an eye on things.

Only one tide that day, at midday so hopefully they will come up during the late morning.
All I've got to do now is get some time off work  :-)

You are probably right that they will come to the West India Dock because there are no lifts scheduled for Tower Bridge.
I have no idea of times, they seem to be impossible to get these days.
There are quite a few vantage points on the way up to the WID. Tilbury landing stage will give a close view but the sun can be a problem, Gravesend opposite is good, Woolwich barrier to name a few.

Hi sabre123

Four ships went up to the West India Dock yesterday, they were

ITS Granatiere F 585
ITS Rimini 5561
SPS Segura M 31
TCG Amasra M 266

The PLA website unusually lists them, the three minesweepers sail on the 1st June @ 15.30 followed by the frigate @ 17.00

Hi John,

Yes, managed to get a couple of hours down at Tilbury and saw them come up. It was a bit wet though, camera siezed up at one point but managed to dry it out before the frigate came up. It must have some sort of sensor on it :-x
