Swansea Dry Dock reactivated for Cruise Ship docking
« on: September 10, 2009, 03:29:10 PM »
After many years of being idle , the once very busy Swansea Dry Dock gates will creak and groan tommorrow at 0930 to dock the cruise ship ASTORIA which has made the journey up from Gibraltar on one engine .. She is currently at anchor off the Mumbles

The ship will be operated by Saga Cruises and after the re-fit she will be sailing as the Saga Pearl ll

Because local firm Harris Pye got the refit job, hence the work being done in Swansea.

The ship will be an ideal addition to Saga, the only thing I do not like is the name, why Saga Pearl 11?

Sure you're not getting your Roman numerals muddled with Arabic?

According to Saga, the name is going to be SAGA PEARL II (rather than '11') - click here
