This happened last night as the ferry was passing the North Shields fish quay the skipper came on the radio and asked for assistance from the pilot cutter ,as a man had a stroke.Tyne VTS asked if the person could walk , to which the Captain on the Princess said that the man was uncounscious.Tyne VTS replied with they would need the lifeboat. Humber coasyguard was called and a doctor was telling the ferry what to do with the casualtyi.e keep him in the recovery position.Humber the said they were getting the helcopter from Boulmer and it would take about 20 minutesto arrive. I then drove down to the seafront and asIi arrived I could see the helicoter racing towards the ferrry. they dropped the winchman down at approx 1900. He was onboard for about 15 minutes then the helicopter headed straight to the RVI in Newcastle.
