Ex Gosport Ferries - VITA & FERRY QUEEN sold to Grimsby
« on: July 26, 2009, 11:16:11 AM »
Yesterday the VITA & FERRY QUEEN left London where they have operated for many years to be sold as houseboats in Grimsby. A very sad end to the working career of these classic vessels.

Lets just hope they aren't cut to pieces and end up as floating caravans

IF there are any members who live local to Grimsby i would appreciate it if they could keep me informed with photographs and updates on these two vessels
Regards
Ben

I don't recognize the brght red paintwork but I certainly remember them from the 50's & 60's.
I wonder how hundreds of thousands of matelows trod their decks as they plyed between Gosport and Pompey?

FERRY QUEEN seen today at Goole in the entrance to the Aire & Calder canal, was told bought by Alan Pease for conversion to a houseboat.
Best wishes from Hull
