« on: January 15, 2009, 02:41:09 PM »
The Portsmouth Daily News is reporting that ice patrol ship HMS Endurance could be scrapped as an alternative to repairing her after severe flooding in her engine room.

Full Story

Seems like a convenient excuse to cut the fleet even further.

Save the Royal Navy!

A report in the local paper states that a contract has been placed with Bermudan-base firm Dockwise for HMS Endurance to be returned to the UK.
It appears that heavy lift ship MV Target will be used and on current planning will start loading Endurance late February and is expected to arrive off Portsmouth on or about the 20th March. But the duration of her journey is subject to many factors but should take about a month once she is secured on board..

It is reported that HMS Endurance has been loaded on to a heavy lifting ship supplied by Dockwise in the Falkland Island, thought be be Target. It was expected to leave for Portsmouth at the end of February but the welding took longer then planned, the ship is now expected to leave on the 10th March arriving in Portsmouth at the beginning of April.
