Freya sank lighthouse foundation

The Dutch container m/v "Freya", 5067 gt, in the evening of Dec 16at 10.18 p.m. 6 allided with the foundation of the new l/h which is currently under construction on the Gelbsand (Yellow Sand) as a replacement for the l/h Groden and Altenbruch on the Elbe between the buoys 22 and 24. The 117 m long ship which was bound from Hamburg to Oslo suffered a gash in its bulbous bow. The forepeak thus was flooded. The ship was ordered to anchor on Neuwerk-roads, where the damage was surveyed on Dec 17. The ship proceedd to the Norder Yard in Hamburg for repairs the following day. The lighthouse foundation pipe which has a length of 45 m was compeltely sunk in a depth of 11 metres in the incident.
The Dutch feeder is owned by Teamlines. It had no pilot on board.
