The tankers have even made the BBC news now.
They had a mention on Radio 4 this afternoon and there is also this piece on the web site:

Also was on BBC & ITV local news this evening with reporter on Brixham Pilot Cutter doing the report..some real good shots..but sadly not in a position to record.         There is also a story in the local rag (Herald Express..can be viewed on ....this is south devon.co.uk )  this evening.         There is some local concern as to why there is no 'ETV' Stationed in Torbay in case of Anchor drag in an easterly gale....my concern would be anchor chain fatigue in the view of such a long anchorage period..(Witherbys Anchors & Anchorwork Publication makes interesting reading!!)

Yes saw the Ondina sail.
The 'Dareb' also heaved anchor late last nite and 'made way' for an hour or so to make a lee for the pilot boats to make a crew change. Back at anchor again now.

Container ship MAERSK BENTONVILLE IMO 9313929 lOA 294 m  reported arriving at Tongue Anchorage (outer Thames) and idle there since 20/03/09 departed 08/04/09 heading north but later returned 09/04/09 and is now again at anchor at the Tongue Anchorage. Any ideas on the reason ? Bunkering somewhere?  Is it deemed "moored" and fees charged if they dont move ?

I presume the MAERSK BENTONVILLE just did a little run to check everything was working okay, suspect so she is all prepared for when she gets the call for a cargo. I don't think she actually stopped off Southwold, rather just turned and returned to the Outer Tongue.

Krispen 8-)

GLORY (exPIETARI GLORY) is scheduled to leave the River Fal on Tuesday morning. She is destined for Indian breakers, and will follow Bright (ex Pietari Bright) which went last week.

Certainly some of the ships on FWE's list are laid up, but several appear to be awaiting orders, or are engaged in storage operations.

The inactivity surrounding the Coastal Bulk fleet can be explained by this article http://www.lloydslist.com/ll/news/coastal-bulk-ceases-trading/20017602607.htm

Although I have to query the description of 'bulk carrier' for them! For their size, that would embrace 99.9% of all coasters.

Steve.

The British registered Product Tanker 'SUNNIVA'  IMO 8914555 joined the 'Gang' at the Deep Water Anchorage in Lyme Bay ....arriving from Hamburg I believe at around 0100 this morning.

'MORNING EXPRESS' left the Lyme Bay Anchorage around 1530 today enroute to Southwold.

VLCC 'DAREB' which has been anchored in Lyme Bay since April 1st 09 has heaved her anchor at around 2245 and embarked a Deep Sea Pilot at around 2330 today and has headed East..her AIS Transponder was still showing Lyme Bay as her destination at time of writing.
